  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

I am confessing so don't judge.

I am not looking forward to the warm weather and the melting snow.

It has been so cold and snowy here that my usual winter-every-other-day poop pick up hasn't happened since Christmas.:eek:hshit: We have been so cold and gotten so much snow, that I can't even find the mastiff sized piles in the yard. Today is 45 and tomorrow will be in the 50's, so I know it is all going to be visible. I am going to need a 30 gallon trash can (or 2) to get it all picked up. I am going to have to wear hip waders for the mud and sewage in the yard! UGH!:scared2: I have 3 mastiffs and a sheltie mix, so there is going to be a LOT of CRAP!

I hear ya! I too have a confession...we do not have garbage pickup here in the country and have to take ours to the dump. I keep alternating between 2 different dumps every week just to make the kid's contributions. Half the bag is household and the other half is frozen poop. Until the snow melts some more I can still follow the paths they've made in the snow and left their presents. We have 1 mastiff, 1 pyreneese and 1 rotti and ohhhhhh so much poop! I'm not looking forward to the wet weather especially since the young one hasn't yet learned to walk around the messes. Oh no he tromps right through them on the way into the house. Squishy toes and carpet are a horrible mix!!! lol

Build a dog compost system. Dig a hole big enough in diameter for a trash can. Cut the bottom out of the trash can. Cut holes in the trash can sides with a hole saw to allow ventilation. Bury can. Put dog crap in can. Put lid on can. Wa La...... doggie composter (put in some organic material occasionally)

We have a designated poop area near our gigantic compost pile, thank goodness. My neighbors are about 3/4 a mile away and have 7 little rescues that they are constantly picking up after in their little back yard. I give them a load of credit for being so diligent, but I'm thankful I don't have to do it!

We have dog poo, horse poo, cat poo, chicken poo, pigeon poo and poo I don't want to identify! Our farm is named DRT FARM but should really be called the poo farm! :lolbangtable:

Here in Southern California we have pretty much been passed by. No winter to really speak of. The planet is pissed off and everyone is going to pay with one extreme or another.

OMG I am so grossed out right now..to think an pet owner who leaves their poop in the yard for all else to smell...Disgusting! and to not wish for warmer weather...well....who said picking up poop in the winter was going to be easy....LOL :lolbangtable: Ok ok....sorry had to do that! I am confessing also because I get my 16 year old daughter out there to do the deed...we call it poop duty so she goes out there and chisels the crap off the ice lol! I too will be out there with a huge garbage bag and hip waders on just picking up poo and THAT is something I am not looking forward to!!

If I didn't pick it up... Denna would eat it. :(

We have a "poop station" out back... a can with a lid, small insert, double-bagged... then a rake/scoop tool to get the goods from the yard into the bag.
Since Denna is raw-fed (i.e. very low waste), we only fill one grocery-sized plastic bag every 2 or 3 weeks. :)

Ya'll really pick up poop???

That's a bummer!

Ha- no choice here in the city. Poop bags are always with me when I walk the beast, otherwise a nice $100 fine.

But somebody invented some really cool lavender scented biodegradable poop bags.

Yes, lavender...don't laugh. The other ones on the market are all heavily scented with cheap fragrance that made me gag every time I pulled one out. :yuck:

I spent a 1/2 hour earlier this week using a scrapper to break it free from the frozen ground so that I could get rid of it before it started to thaw and stink.

I think I use the same type of bags.

This made me laugh!! If out in public I'll pick it up as a courtesy & I kindly remind others who allow their dogs to poop in public to pick up after their dogs by giving them the icy stare as if I am saying, "yes I'm watching you. Pick up your dogs crap or I'll pick it up & throw it in your car when you're not looking" :D

:groaner:Guilty...we're evil bad Mastiff parents. There's three feet of snow in my back yard, and it's going to rain tomorrow...buckets of rain, so those little hidden offerings are about to appear with a vengeance. I'm sure most of my neighbours are in the same boat. Nobody wanted to wade through deep snowdrifts to pooper scoop, and, hopefully, the thaw will do a slow reveal instead of us being inundated with a tidal wave of slushy poop. Not looking forward to it.:hidedoor:

LOL! No snow here in Dallas but about a year ago I spent a couple of weeks traveling for business. When I came home my beloved had hired a popper scooper company. We never cancelled. Now, in the country….. poop happens. Of course they have 46 acres to poop on and they do it within 20 feet of the house. *sigh*

Another reason to own a Fila....No going out among the evil public. Since Cane is raw fed his turds are about the size of three giant rabbit turds. Even better, step on it a couple of days later and it just turns into powder.

Wait, when we get a normal winter with SNOW. At the end in the spring after the melt we do not have poo mines. They just go away. I rake the yard down before the first plants start to come up and any poo that did not desolve is absorbed by the growth. Spring, Summer and Fall poo mines are harvested and buried in deep holes in the back yard. I tried a doggie Dooley BTW, what a joke do not waste your money. It is cheaper and better to make your own by just digging a hole and dropping a lid on it then adding enzymes. After a few months back fill the hole and choose a new location. Next year you can go back to the original spot as it has totally composted and been converted to soil.
