  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Has anybody else seen something like this on their dog?

I found a bump on our girl a couple of days ago... I'm not in a panic by any stretch of the imagination but while I was checking it today, I noticed a change. There's no hair growing there and it looks wet and kind of raw. The hair that was around it was clumped up with nastiness. I cleaned it up with a bit of tea tree soap. It's a hard little bump, about the size of a dime. To me it almost looks like an abscess, but I'm no expert. It does hurt her when it's touched but aside from that she's her usual self. Silly, energetic when she's not working on her napping championship, she's eating normally and still super cuddly. It's possible she got a scratch playing with Captain Chaos but I can't be sure on that either. I'm going to keep an eye on it over the weekend and will get her in to see the vet in the next couple of days if it doesn't look to be improving.
Just wondering if anybody else has seen something similar on their babies and if so what it might be.

Is she a young dog? If so, this makes me think of a histiocytoma, which is benign and typically regresses on its own. A vet check is never a bad idea though if it doesn't start looking better.

Could also be a sebaceous cyst. I've had several shelties with them but never a short haired dog. Time to go to a vet IMHO.

histiocytoma would be my guess .

X2. We had one exactly like that on our pups rump. It went away on its own after a couple weeks! The vet can do a cell staining to confirm if it makes you more comfortable! We did

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the info! I will continue to keep an eye on it & keep it clean and see what happens. And we'll go to the vet just to make sure it's nothing more sinister. :)
