Paracord dog collars

Hello everyone. I just wanted to show off some of my paracord collars which is my latest addiction for the last 4 months. Lots of learning, lots of practice. All I need are some leather fingers lol. Some dogs you will recognize :D.

These all look amazing! Really gorgeous work. My daughter just started making paracord things and I told her I want some collars. That one with the leather buckle. Did you do the knotting over a regular collar? I can't quite tell.

Thank you !! No, I don't do the weaving over a collar. The collars are either done with a martingale piece, biothane adapters, or buckles. The core strands are hooked on to each end of a collar piece and then woven around the core. It's very addicting and there are so many possibilities with designs and colors. I do not make collars with leather straps. They are all biothane which is known as synthetic leather or um one other name that I can't remember off the top of my head right now lol.

I have a biothane long line. I love it. It's nice and easy on the hands and cleans really well. Upon closer inspection I can tell it's biothane. Very, very nice work.

Thank you boxergirl! Tell your daughter to visit swiss paracord website. That's where I learned all my patterns. There are pages and pages of pictorials. I would love to see the collars when she makes them!

Here's some pics of the biothane adapters. The shiny ones were purchased. After that I decided to make my own and they are the matte ones. I read somewhere spend $90 on craft supplies to make something you can buy for $5 LOL and that's so me...

I really, really like the ones with the biothane buckles. I make hemp jewelry and can do macrame. I may give this a try just for my own dogs. I spend a lot on my dog collars because I like to switch things up frequently. I get the spend $90 to make something you can buy for $5. However .... I think that the quality of the things I end up making (soap, natural body products, baby carriers, etc) is much better than what I can buy retail. If you decide to start selling your costs will go way down when you buy in bulk. Just saying, those collars look better than many - most - I've seen for sale on Etsy. People will pay for quality work. I never had a problem getting $6+ for one bar of handmade soap when people could get soap for $1 down the street. It's also nice to get a little something back to reinvest in something you enjoy doing.

I also covet that driftwood.

Yes, I try to make the collars the best I can and it's nice to have extra supplies to experiment with and I am lucky to have free access to different sized dogs that pull quite hard. I like to see how the collars hold up and modify things. This is basically macramé and that driftwood looking piece is actually a dead stump my bf pulled up from the front yard lol. Do check in when you have made some pieces.

Thank you glen! All I need is a neck measurement and it's even easier if you go with an adjustable strap :).

Those are gorgeous.

I'll have to look up the site you mentioned.

If you decide to sell them, I might have three customers here at my house for you, lol.

Yes he bulldozed dad 8 weeks ago now Glen went up in the air like a skittle, gandy was the ball lol. Been a bit hectic I don't drive we live in the countryside. Gandy really can run we take them to a field that our friends own they do agility, I do it with Gandy and we walk these late at night for security to check equipment for them, Gandy just ploughed in full pelt. I heard the crack.
