We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.
I dont have females but the pups we raised the bitch had her first season at 9 months, spaying i would wait until after 18 months at least for her growth, we have 3 males and none have been done,

Also our dogs dont go on our furniture or beds so it wasnt much of a problem, all dogs are different, maybe see how she is and if you feel the mess is a problem try a diaper. Our friend used maternity pads and knickers while her young children were awake,

Since my dogs are allowed on the furniture, I do my dog wear panties when she is in season. There are a couple brands of dog panties out there, I just line them with women's maxipads so they stay cleaner. I do let her stay naked when she is crated or outside though. If you do any obedience classes, they will probably require you to use panties or stay home with your in-season dog.
We have 3 intact females at the moment and they tend to pull each other in so for about 3 months the house is a train wreck. We use diapers because we have kids who can't manage to help wipe up unless they are using their socks and a female that when in heat makes it look like there is a murder victim somewhere. It can vary from female to female, so I would judge it as you go. Don't spend $$ on doggie diapers if you are going to fix, use depends and cut a hole for the tail or men's underwear turned around with a pad in it. We don't allow fixing before 18 months and prefer after 24 months in our contract but that can be a challenge in some households with more than one intact animal.
