How much to feed him?

For the past week I have been fostering a 12 month old male boerboel. We normally walk him twice a day and play with him on and off until bed time, for the rest of the day he sleeps. We were told to only feed him one cup of dry food in the morning and one cup of dry food at night. He normally scoffs this down and continually returns to his bowl wanting more.. he's skin and bones! I feel like he should be eating more? Or is this enough?

I don't think that's enough. Check the bag it should tell you how many cups to feed by weight. But I would think a 12 week old boerboel would be eating at least 4 cups of kibble a day.

It depends on the dog‘s size, activity level, type of food etc.
However, two cups for a twelve months old Boerbol is not enough. I would think that sometime between 6-9 cups would be reasonable (cosidering various factors).

Another thing to consider is that if he is emaciated feeding too much at one time can be dangerous. My recommendation would be check the bag for the food he is eating for the recommended amount and then contact the rescue that you are fostering him for to see why there is a difference. 2 cups of a high quality food might be the correct amount for a small BB, it might be a vet recommended amount or it might not be enough.
