He's too young to have had his joints certified OFA. Does he have working and/or show titles? If he hasn't had the proper health testing and doesn't have any titles then why should he be bred? What does he have to contribute to bettering the breed???

I am new too studding, there is still more information that i need to go upon doing this but He has champion bloodlines, he is aca registered with his full family tree. Has not been tested for joints and other stuff if anybody has questions on him please ask.

ACA isn't a reputable registry AT ALL. Based on that alone I would say DON'T breed him. But if you must, at the very least PLEASE do the appropriate genetic health testing 1st.

It's not at all the same as the AKC. For one thing the conformations shows... AKC has very define breed standards that the dogs are judged by, the AMA's are a total joke. I could actually get my Neo/BM mix registered with them fairly easily if I really wanted to and she could probably get a ACA Championship as a Neo and she's a mutt!

You'll want to have the Hip and elbows tested/screend by OFA PennHip and any other recomended health tests for DDB's maybe thyroid, cardio screen, eye cerf, etc... check out the AKC breed club to get an idea of which tests DDB's should have... here's some good infor on breeding DDB's http://www.ddbs.org/Breeders.htm

Your dog is still too young for most tests, he should be at least 2, 3 would be better.

Here are the DDB specific tests:
[h=2]CHIC Website[/h]The CHIC website is located at www.caninehealthinfo.org. The website contains basic information on CHIC such as its mission and goals, and maintains a listing of the participating breeds and approved breed specific test protocols. The CHIC website also provides a search engine to locate dogs that have been issued CHIC numbers, their test dates, and the results of their tests.
[h=2]The Dogue de Bordeaux core items are:[/h]Cardiac by Cardiologist
Hips (OFA and/or Penn Hip)
Shoulders
Elbows

The Dogue de Bordeaux option testing is:
Cerf (eyes)
Thyroid
Patellas

The joints are VERY improtant though, you don't want to breed a dog (especially a giant breed dog) that will likely pass on joint problems!

Not every purebred male dog needs to be bred. My Doberman is AKC, nearly his whole pedigree is made up of AKC champions, his parents, his grand parents, 3 of his litter mates... he comes from one of the best show breeders and he was show potential... He's a gorgeous dog and for the 1st 2 years of his life I got sick of every person I met with aDobe bitch asking to breed with him! But at 2 years old I had him neutered. I felt and still feel that breeding should be left to those who have the time, the money, the experience, etc to truly do it right!

If you're going to breed a dog they should have a lot to contribute to their breed, not just "he's a great dog, I think he's the best looking DDB I've ever seen, he's smart, etc" It needs to be backed up by outside sources, a conformation title to prove that he IS a great looking dog by the standard, temperament tests, health tests, and ideally even a working title of some sort... if all of those things confirm, yes this dog is AWESOME, the breed NEEDS his genes! Then hell yeah, stud him out to approved bitches.

Don't forget that unscrupulous breeders put this in naive buyers heads. Your pup will pay for itself and a nice vacation. Whatever!

These registries are owned by, funded by, etc, mega puppy mills. It's quite a racket. However, AKC titles should not determine whether a dog should be bred. There are so many worthless AKC dogs out there with titles. Some of your top hunting dog breeders have AKC registries and others don't. But these breeders with AKC registries aren't showing them in the AKC ring; they'd lose. They're titles come from competitions where their dogs show their hunting skills. And there's plenty of top hunting dog breeders that have been doing it for generations and they don't have registries. And hunters spend thousands for these dogs because they know what they're getting. And don't get me started on those unhealthy AKC Neos with all their titles. I know of two Neo breeders that breed functional Neos and I'm pretty sure they don't have any registries (i posted the link to their webpage on one of my previous posts) but they show proper temperament and structure and they're living longer than 5 yrs. Unlike our titled AKC breeders. Does that mean he shouldn't breed Neapolitans because he doesn't have a proper registry?

Nope, but I bet they're working dogs with similer pedigrees. Which in alot of ways is better than AKC's method if harder to track. On the other hand an ACA registration doesn't mean a thing really.
