This had to be one of the wierdest whelpings i have seen, just how long it took. She was 63 days on wed, she didnt want her lunch or supper, but wolfed down human food like it was her last meal lol, at 11pm the panting and nesting behavior started, so figured i would expect pups in the early morning hours of thursday, nope, this behavior went on until friday morning about 7am. I mean serious nesting and the panting was heavy, she wasnt straining or pushing and no discharge but i was getting concerned. We were discussing making a trip to the vet as soon as they opened with in the hour but i took her outside for the 20th time and bingo we had discharge, let her back in and she basically ran to her whelping box and by 8am she had her first one, whew talk about stress lol. She took her sweet time as she did not finish until 5pm, all pups were a little over a pound each, one smaller guy at just under a pound and one huge guy at a little over a pound and a half.
Couple pics, first one of mom on thursday, resting in between bouts of furious nesting, im partial to the little light brindle guy
, also whelping box made out of left over laminate flooring, we had a box of flooring left over and it is so easy to wipe clean, pig rail went in this morning as she laid on one and i had to revive him with a bit of puppy cpr, he came back, i now have become OCD about checking on them oh say every 10 mins lol, if it was up to me i would never leave the box
