We just moved to Nevada got here sat we moved into a town home! We left Oregon big house dog door and a beautiful yard! So mia is now 7mos first of all I'm trying to figure out and walking schedule, second of all I went to the grocery shopping and I came home and my whole bottom Stair was chewed up and the carpet was ripped off! My husband is going to be so mad! We haven't had to crate her for a few mos!

Unfortunetly moving is highly stressfull for dogs, and distruction is a common response. You may have to crate her for a few months till she's well settled in.

Mia is stressed. I agree to crate her while you are gone until she settles in. Try to exercise her more to help relieve the stress but being in NV, the heat is a definite factor. Mastiffs overheat rather quickly.

Im with Music and Ruth...she needs to be well exercised before leaving and a crate will give her comfort, security and keep her safe and you out of the divorce courts. haha!

It's really not Mia's fault. After a move like that she is going to be stressed and chewing is one way they relieve it. Crate should be used until she is feeling more comfortable.

Where in Nevada? We are in Henderson. We occasionally use a dog walker and she won't walk during the summer because sidewalks & streets are so hot. I've burnt my feet on our patio! Sometimes DH walks Dante around midnight, but mostly we do playtime in the backyard. There are some size separated dog parks here but we don't go often. Dante really only wants to run around for about 5 minutes then drink TONS of water. We also have a pit mix so they chase each other in the back yard.

Oh, also we just moved a couple months ago and our dogs barked a lot at first, but they have settled down now. Plus no rain means no wet dog smell!

I'd invest in a sprinkler and misting system to help cool the yard... plus Denna will wear herself out chasing the sprinkler -or even better- the hose! It also gets her wet (drenched), which helps keep her cool. Of course, then you have the wet-dog smell back - in case you're missing it from your Oregon days. :)

We just moved too and Max was a bit off for a few weeks. Luckily the hubby and I are on separate shifts now so there is always someone at home with the dogs. We noticed that Max used the crate a lot more than he had been prior to the move, so just make sure Mia has access to her place.
