More crating questions and concerns

For those of you who have read my earlier posts, you know my pup molly is a new BM to my house with no kids and a cat. For others, Molly is 13 weeks now and adapting to life in our home very well. She was a handful at 9 weeks with biting, but she has begun to calm down a bit with consistent "OW"s and diversion. She loves her crate and the big stuffed black bear that she sleeps with - it used to be her size, but not anymore.

Our circumstances have changed drastically due to family illness and now (lack of) funds - my wife will be starting back to work next :-( working 7 until 3 on the afternoon. I work the standard 8-5 or 6 or 7 depending on work load. We crate Molly at night (11 - 6) and she is doing great with that. I am struggling with leaving her crated during work hours. I can come home at lunch most days so the longest time would be 4 hours. My wife will be home at 3:30 so just a couple more hours in the crate.

I know people that do it with pups until they can be left to roam the house. What about this breed?

Our 7 month old Bella is in her crate during the day from 6:30am to 4:30pm during the week. We have some one walk her around 2pm. And she sleeps in our daughters room at night. Bella doesn't like being left alone in the house by herself unless she is in her crate.

I spoke with someone at the local humane society and they recommended a lady who pet sits. We called her and she came over tonight and she has a ton of references. After calling several people that I recognize on the list, we are set for her to start tomorrow at 10 AM. She even suggested web cam equipment so I could watch the time she spends with Molly.

I am going to meet her here and watch the routine from the driveway. She will take Molly outside to eliminate and bring her back in for a few minutes of play and training (which we went over this evening) including treats for a total of 30 minutes. She only charges $13/30 min on a weekly arrangement. The 30 min starts when she opens the door.

I can't afford it but I'll find something else to cut out. Molly is our baby!!!

I use a pet sitter in the middle of the day and I love it! She comes over for half an hour, lets the dogs out, plays with them, gives them a cuddle and their Kong that I prepare in the morning, changes their water and goes again. She only lives 3 doors down from me so is always on hand if one of them is a little off colour that day and will happily pop in 3 times a day without being asked! I wouldn't be without her so if you can find a good pet sitter they are worth their weight in gold IMO.
