I was wondering why the ears are docked? Is it part of the standard? I know that Boxers are now being excepted in the ring with natural ears. This isn't fault finding, I'm just curious, I've never had a breed that had docked ears.

The American AKC standard states that ...
Ears:
Set well above the cheekbones. May be cropped or uncropped. If cropped, it is in an equilateral triangle. If uncropped, they are medium size, triangular in shape, held tight to the cheeks, and not extending beyond the jaw bone. I believe the Italian standard is basically the same. Personally, I liked the intimidation factor the cropped ears give the breed. My girls look badazz but are really sweat hearts.
