Last weekend was a quiet at home weekend. I was recovering from the stomach flu. Being sick I spent most of the day in bed and Kahlua and Diesel accompanied me for much of that.
Kahlua starting acting oddly at one point in the day, doing all the tricks she knew, scooting around on her belly, sitting in weird positions, contorting, licking my face, leaning into me. One thing after the other I got worried. I took her out to potty. Brought her back and the weird behavior continued. I was actually starting to worry. Maybe she was sick? Maybe she was in pain? Why was she acting so strange. And Diesel was grumbling and complaining to me. Maybe he knew something I didn't?
The problem with staying in bed all day long is that time starts to become meaningless. So when Kahlua started acting funny it never occurred to me to check the time. Sure enough it took several hours of her antics before I glanced at the clock... Turns out I missed her dinner time. Diesel and Kahlua were trying to tell me it was time to feed them! Oops! Guess in this case it was the human who wasn't learning very quickly.
