We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

You can help. Or boobs.

Caitlin looked at me the other night (I think I'd told her I was a champion skate boarder or a stunt man or something) with that usual "stop winding me up look" and something struck me.
Her face, she didn't look poorly. She didn't look like a little girl either. For a moment she looked like a young woman.
I'm not ashamed t say I had to go out side "for a ciggy" and have a little cry.
We'd been warned the treatment could affect her advancement but now I have hope it hasn't.

She didn't have look good going to her award ceremony.
She came home with a brand new laptop and printer as her prize and a massive crush on Newcastle United's reserve Goal Keeper.

Did the boobs get your attention? Great. Haha. I've got you know.

Following on from my cancer survivors post (my new partners 10yr old daughter had been diagnosed with a brain tumour) I have a request.
Some one suggested that it would be nice for mummy and daughter to know they are in people's thoughts and I think this is a fab idea.
She had another scan today so I sent her mum photos of all the lads on my site with theor fingers crossed. Caroline (mum) said it meant so much to her that a bunch of hairy assed builder cared.

So anyway. I would like to collect as many get well soon cards as I can.
Would you guys be up for sending a card or two? It's to the UK so I understand that it's a few dollars in postage but it would mean a lot to all of us, especially the little girl, to get cards from around the world.

If you would like to help then I'll post my address on here and when they pile up a bit ill take them all to the hospital.

I'm on board, but it might take a while to get there (from Canada).

In the meanwhile, would love to send young Caitlin a message, and some well wishes from - Elana, Danny, Katy, and baby Charlie in Canada.
Is there a way of sending it to you, so that you can share it with her?

The little one is adorable.... :) Nice to see the positive updates.

And speaking of, I just saw this quote today---
"Nothing is more important than empathy for another human being's suffering. Nothing. Not a career, not wealth, not intelligence, certainly not status. We have to feel for one another if we're going to survive with dignity."

That's a lovely thought Elena. Though the card drive was from
January haha.
If you still want to send something I'm sure she would still love to receive it.
My address is at the beginning of the thread.

Friday is the day.
Last injection. Whoop whoop.
As long as this nasty little sod stays dead and doesn't rear it's ugly head again then no more chemo, no more radio, no more interferon.
We've got a little party planned.

She's just had her last interferon injection.
From here on it's scans but no more treatment.
She's been so amazing and inspiring.
I can safely say if I had to face the fight she has over this last 11 months I'd have given up.
I'd have quit during chemo but she didn't, I'd have quit during radiotherapy but she didn't.
I'm a grown man and I'd have known I couldn't fight the fight.
She's 11 (10 when this started) and she's still here.
She's amazing.
She's took all the hits cancer could throw at her.
And cancer......you hit like a bitch.

Dear CJ, I've just come back now to the Forum and I've missed so much, including this miracle. If your little Miss would still appreciate a card from CANADA, I'm in. It will be too late for Christmas unless I ask my niece/nephew in Scotland to mail it. But a nice New Year's card would start the year off right. Blessings on All of You! And a very Merry and Happy New Year!

What a lovely offer.
Yes I'm sure she would love to know everyone who sent a card was wishing year a happy new year and a happy new start in this life that she has fought so hard for.

And welcome back.

It really is.

But.....it's getting through this.
She won't be clear for many years. Though the test results are positive and that's what we are focusing on.

Hi CJ, the card is finally on the way...too late for Christmas and probably New Year too, but, a little smile for your girl. Best wishes for a healthy and happy New Year. I put a variety of stamps on it for her delight.:)

Long time no update.
Well the week before last she had her 3 month scan and the consultant (naughty consultant) took a quick look before the official results were in and he was happy.
So we had faith that there official results would be ok.
He listened to her chest as per usual and said he'd be booking her in for a chest and kidney X-ray.
It seems that this cancer likes to spread to lungs and liver during and after treatment.
Now my mind said "it's routine, they always do this" Carolines minds said "it's spread, she has lung cancer"

Well......I'm glad to say I was right.
(Who doesn't like being right haha)
We had the results back of the X-rays and the scan last week and all are clear.
No spread to kings or liver and the tumour is OFFICIALLY unchanged.

Fantastic news.

Caitlin has had a hearing test and it seems the proton has harmed her hearing so she will need a hearing aid.

She's very upset about this and is worried that other kids will take the piss out of her.
Mum has sat and straightened her hair (yes it's long enough to straighten now) to show her she can hide her hearing aid if she wants to and that no one needs to know.
Personally I think she should wear it like a badge of honour, but I'm not an 11yr old girl.

So all pretty good right now.

Oh apart from a teacher chastising her for forgetting that they had changed text books on a day she wasn't even at school.
Caroline has gone full Woman Scorned on him which is good cos I'd have pulled his head off if I'd been there.
