Behavioral Issue

Sorry for the late reply! Been a hectic week. Ok so we move the trash can to the garage when we leave the house and put bread and other food out of reach (she is a counter surfer). She has been doing very well (KNOCK ON WOOD). We don't don't crate her as much. We just had a change in the household so I want to wait at least another week or two before letting her have full range of the house for a long period of time by her self. But now our NEW issue is her skin allergies. It has gotten pretty bad pretty quick. Like within the last 2 weeks. I think within the last 3-dayys it has gotten even worse so we are going to try different food today. Oh and sorry! Hello everyone! My name is Tanzeena and this is my four legged baby Sarabi!

Hi Tanzeena, Sarabi, and family.

Glad to hear that the peeing and pooping problem is starting to go in the right direction.

Sorry to hear that the allergy situation is getting worse.
That'a a tough one, which may consist of a lot of trials and errors, until you find something which will agree with her.

What is she eating (has been eating) so far?

By the way, Sarabi, is a beautiful girl :) (I'm guessing someone in your household enjoys The Lion King ).

Thank you!! OMG yes!!! We are a big Disney everything fan family!!! My daughter still asks me when are we going to get another Dogo so we can name him Mufasa. LOL. But I want to wait until Sarabi is close to two and we have most of her issues under control before bringing another one into the family. But thank you for knowing where the name comes from! Most ppl dont.

As for her allergy issue, I have changed out all her treats so none of them have any kind of meat in them. All her treats are mostly fruits and yogurt. If I don't have any treats on hand I'll just give her real blueberries or apples or other fruits and sometimes green beans. But we had her on Venision (no go for her),whitefish (no go) Salmon and rice (got even worse), and now we are on Kangaroo which we are still transitioning to so FINGERS CROSSED!!!!

Yes I emailed my Dr. this morning to ask her opinion of the medicine. I also just received a medicated shampoo in the mail yesterday that I will try. But most of all I am dreading having to put this ecollar on her!! She hates that thing!! Tore the last one up into 3 pieces and she had it on for the same reason!

I really hope the Kangaroo works.
I was just talking to one of the girls in my Pet Shop the other day, and she was telling me that there are vegetarian diets for dogs that are now available. Apparantly, there are quite a few dogs who cannot tolerate any meat, fish or poultry.

Regarding the Lion King, it's one of my favorite stories. My favorite character, is Rafiki (absolutely love him). Just don't name your next pup Scar, lol, might come out kinda twisted .

Your girl is beautiful!

I know that I am coming late to this discussion, so I apologize. I have a half dogo/half American Bulldog grand-puppy, AND, YES, SKIN PROBLEMS. We use for the grand-puppies and for my mastiff, the IAMS Skin and Coat Plus which is basically a potato and fish product. I have heard, unfortunately, that they won't be making it anymore and are suggesting the fish and rice formula. NOW, I HAVEN'T CHECKED THIS OUT MYSELF, So, I don't know if the rumor is true. Perhaps I have been misinformed. If it will still be available, I'd suggest that you try it. It has worked well for us and all the skin situations were resolved. No more upset stomachs, no more rashes. Just happy pups.

By the way, my daughter cuts up and gives raw sweet potato for treats. The dogs love them.

Lol no, Scar is a big no no!!! And I am hoping that the Kangaroo works so that I won't have to switch her to Rx food.... That really costs and arm and a leg!

Thanks! I have tried a rice and fish formula before switching to the Kangaroo and it made her so much worse! I am really hoping this Kangaroo food works. Its expensive as is with it even being and Rx food.

RX food is just horrible for them, hydrolized being the better choice if you have to...for stomach and IBD issues. Iams is worse. Good luck!!

In all honesty it sounds like you have to much Dog in the wrong situation. There's no finer companion than a female Dogo but she was built to run and hunt, she has the largest cardio of any Dog breed in the world. 4 hours in a crate every day is too much for a Dogo and strange behavioral issues will occur and you exceed that already. I have no doubt you are deeply bonded at this point and have rarely if ever experienced such a deep bond with a Dog, Dogo's are funny like that. Humans are selfish, myself included but I would hope you might consider finding her a more appropriate home. We breed and selectively sell our Dogo pups here at my ranch. I would never sell a Dogo to someone in your situation unless you were home 24/7. I hope you will consider my post and not be upset by it. My body dog is a female Dogo and she is the love of my life.
