Dog bed recommendation

Hi
Millie is doing really well at 6.5 months and last week came out of the crate. She's now un-crated 100% of the time. I set a camera up to see what she did while I was at work (she still has a walk with her sitter at lunchtime) and she basically sleeps, sleeps and sleeps some more.

However, yesterday her sitter sent me a picture of her lovely soft mattress style bed...... minus the stuffing!! Millie had decided that it was obviously great fun to tear her bed apart! She had left it alone the whole of last week and just decided to do it yesterday. So she is now in the round plastic bed with vet bed laid down in it for comfort. But it really doesn't look comfortable..... she rucks up the vet bed so that she is basically just laying on the plastic. We have hard wood floors with no rugs at all.

Can anyone recommend a bed for a dog that may take a liking to destroying them? I've seen raised beds but wonder how mastiffs get on with these? I've seen the beds advertised as being ultra durable but wonder if they really are? They're not cheap!

Many thanks!

We went through the same.exact.thing.

Denna at about that age graduated from the crate and was able to stay baby-gated in the bedroom. She was great there for a few weeks, only locked up when she was home alone for a few hours at a time. Then I went on a biz trip... the second day I was gone, she destuffed the pillows on the bed. Every day she'd find a different pillow to destroy...

We got her an XXL crate (54" wire), and in she went. ANY bed that was in there with her got destroyed, even the "guaranteed" ones... one didn't last 24 hours, my hubby returned it in a big garbage bag. The pet shop took it back, no questions asked. :)

We found that our Coolaroo cot-style bed fit perfectly in the 54" crate, so she was able to sleep on that for a few months. She did finally dig a hole in the bed fabric (a treat fell down around the edge, and she HAD to get to it). So after that, she just got a fuzzy blanket to curl up with. I felt bad that she was on the hard plastic, but it was her own fault!!

She was about 14 months old before she FINALLY was able to be crate-free - and we were able to get our living room back - that crate is HUGE! :)

We LOVE the Coolaroo beds. They're not expensive, and you can replace the fabric... which we did for the one she dug through - and another old one we have. The frames are going on 10 years old now, I think... they're perfect for camping and tailgating in the rain.

Kuranda beds are not cheap, but I feel they are worth it if you only need 1 lol. Personally I try to stay away from stuffed beds even if they do have washable covers due to the fact that if they get pee on it then it's a massive headache. Dogs do fine on those elevated beds, you can even buy a nice plush pad for the cover.

no problem sleeping on the floor! if she likes it why not!...beds with stuffing are not good for dogs who like to tear things up ...so its a waste of money...the best get a thick cover blanket ( just a blanket no stuffing) the cheapest one will do and just put it for her on the floor you can fold it to make it thicker....she might play with it at first and try to tear it but will probably end up sleeping on it.

My boy lost bed privileges.
The schnauzer sleeps in her own "chair" and he's relegated to the kitchen.

Temperpedic bath mats were a favorite of both of them.

Went the coolaroo route but

I bought two different beds from Chewy. The Coolaroo and the Frisco. There's a definite difference in quality. The Frisco, for about the same price or less, depending on their sale is a much better quality bed than the coolaroo. The coolaro frames are cheap and the bedding material stretches out of shape. The Frisco is holding up nicely, the frame goes together nicely and the bedding is more durable.

I wrote a review on the coolaroo for chewy (hey, they asked!) and I mentioned the poor quality. A few days later, I got an email from chewy saying that if I or my pet was unhappy with anything, please let them know....they refunded the money to my account. I didn't ask them to do that, they didn't ask for a return. They are really a great company to do business with!

LMAO, coolaroos are definitely not good for dogs over 100 lbs and/or with sharp nails. I have had mine for a couple of years now. They haven't ripped, but they are starting to wear.

Okay I ordered 2 frisco beds, thanks! I also have a petcot that has a thick vinyl cover. That one will never tear, I think..
