New here I have a Dogo that is 9 months old and weighs 60 lbs she was the largest in her little should i be concerned? I have no idea how long to they take to reach maturity since this is my first dogo and nobody around here including my vet seem to know anything.

as long as she is healthy and eating good quality food, I would not worry too much about her size right now. they do go thru an awkward stage between 9-11 months. she does seem to be on the smaller side, but that is not always bad. my friends 2 6 1/2 month old females are about 65lbs now.

Welcome to the forum.

I honestly know NOTHING about Dogo's but she is a gorgeous pup!!

She has a lot of growing left I wouldn't worry.

My male dogo Hoss is 11 months as of 2 weeks ago and weighed in at 115. Here is a vid showing his growth from 7 weeks to 1 year.

@KingDogo, Hoss is very impressive and stunning! @leosd3, mastiffs continue to grow until 2-3 years of age. Slow and steady growth is key to a healthy mastiff. Great pic of your pups!

I am also taking her to the dog park every day for about 2 hours. Does anyone think that is too much exercise for her?

Generally, mastiffs should go easy on excessive running and jumping for the first 12-18 months. Because they continue to grow until 2-3 years of age, their bones are still developing to their full potential. Excessive running and jumping can lead to hip and joint issues later in life.

So do you think I should cut back the dog park time? She runs around for a bit but mostly wrestles with the other dogs. She seems to know when she is tired though and usually takes breaks and lays down in between runs.

It's a coin toss. Dogos need exercise. If it were me, I would limit the excessive wrestling and running. You know your dog, so if you notice a change in his personality when you limit play time and running, then increase it a little.

i was curious about the weight of my dogo but am finding that their growth rates are all over the place. a person in my neighborhood also has a dogo around the same age as mine. mine is 7months and he is 83lbs. the other dogo is about 73lbs now. mine was putting weight on like you wouldn't believe but in the last month, he has only put on 3lbs. where as the other dogo in the last month has put on almost 10lbs. figure he will catch mine in weight soon. I have fed him raw from 10weeks old. feeding him about 3.5lbs a day.

but one thing i was curious about is why you are taking your dogo to a dog park? did your breeder not mention thats a horrible idea? you understand that a dogo is a nuclear bomb of a dog? i have never taken my dogo to a dog park...not because i think he doesn't know how to behave at one... he is very friendly with all the dogs he runs into. but i dont take him to a dog park for the protection of other dogs. i have no control over other dogs and how they behave. my boy would never start anything but i absolutely guarantee that he and your dogo would finish another dog. my boy is 7months and when we are playing he moves at one speed.. but when he is after something.. he moves at a completely different speed. i wouldn't open myself up to the liability of taking your dogo to a dog park and having him hurt or kill another dog.

I take her to the dog park because she likes it. She is still a puppy and doesn't have any show of aggression yet. The dog park i go to is also pretty good separate area for large and small dogs 90% of people are regulars so its about as good as a dog park can get.

I have a 15 month old boy and i can tell you it's a bad idea to take your Dogo to the dog park. Of course your dog will love going there mine does but i have had a few scares so i stopped going completely.

I started taking him when he was around 4 months old, and stopped when he turned a year old. There are specific dogs that triggers him to go nuclear and when he see's them he goes into a red zone that has him also displaying re-directed aggression.

Now he is 15 months at 44 kg and he has yet to fill completely

Dogos are alot different from other mastifs. Keep going to dog park if you want to keep as a pet if you hunt pull her out!! Keep in mind that the foundation dog that makes a dogo was a fighting dog. So the gene is in there somewhere. I really love a good dogo. There loving and strong as hell and can take a beating and smile right back. I knew when I seen my dogo get flipped in the air head over heals and go right back and catch the boar that did that he was a pimp! !

congrats good looking dogo. Jake is 2 1/2 years old and over the last 4 months he has put on 12 pounds so he is still growing he now weighs in at 125 pounds. I feed him honest kitchen ( freeze dried raw) raw hamburger leanest possible, raw egg, 1 1/4 cup of taste of wild grain free. honest kitchen I change every time I need to buy more. Twice a week I change from hamburger to tuna fish in water or sardines. Find good omega 3 a lot of fish oils are rancid so do your homework, that will help with joints and everything else.I feed my dogs according to how they look I like to see the last two ribs when he is running and playing. they eat less in the winter cause the y turn into couch potatoes.when I have been to a dog park which have alot of stupid humans that have dogs I have a E collar on him I dont go often. your Dogo has a SWITCH, Jake is loving and so gentle but dont ever forget that you own a white angel of death and he can easily kill about any dog there. He probably will grow into that more. I still socialize my dogs going to parks walking in the city but he is on a leash. I take him to parades everyone loves him. Good luck and dont worry about his weight just health. YOUR DOG IS A DOGO YOU HAVE A REAL DOG NOW. Have fun

Im not sure if i agree i have a 2 year old male intact an he has hunted but makes very good judgment calls with all dogs he avoids overly aggressive dogs and never chases dog's in a hunting manner though he did when he was 5 months ..he is 110 but plays as gentle as a 50 pound dog

One of the most ferocious hunting dogs is a 25 lb Patterdale terrier. This dog could take on badgers or 400 lb wild boar. Do not worry yourself with the size of your dog its the fierceness you want for hunting. The smaller your Dogo is the better equipped it is to biting and holding prey as well as being more agile and athletic than giant ones. I am a avid boar hunter and I can attest to the fact that a Dogo in the range of 70-100 lbs makes the best all around hunter.
