1st time seeing an umbrella

Hello all, It is a heavy rain day here. At lunchtime, I took Zeela out and took an umbrella because I could not be a soaked mess to go back to work. She was perplexed and didn't know what the umbrella was and of course she was afraid of it. It is funny to introduce to them something they have never seen. What comes natural to us is new for them. And there are so many new things to introduce to a 10 month old, especially with the change of seasons. Please share what your pup was new to...

Oooh goodness! Well for the longest time Kahlua was terrified of feathers. Yesterday she discovered a pine cone for the first time and kept inching towards it to sniff it and then leaping back like she as startled and nervous. Apparently tiny inanimate objects are super scary to my Kahlua. The feather one seemed like there was nothing I could do to get her over that one other than just ignore it and move her away from any feathers she came across. The pine cone I just went and looked at it and looked at her and told her to leave it and lets go and walked away. She calmed down and went with me. This morning she didn't seem to notice the pine cones on the ground sooo maybe she is all good with it now. Not sure.

That's funny, we go to the dog park & right in it is a pine cone tree. Zeela has tried to pick them up. A feather? crazy what scares them, these dogs are so smart. When it is recycling night and we walk, she gets scared of the cardboard. lol...Now that it is somewhat getting warmer here, a whole new bunch of elements come into play. She tried to eat a moth the other day & she didn't understand what the garden hose was. so much fun to see them learn new things & their reactions to them.

It is fun to watch them discover new things. Logan found some pine cones yesterday and he was walking up to it cautiously, pawing at it, then jumping back, ..like it was a snake about to bite him! Lol Then he saw it was no threat and start chewing it. I'm loving it. He hears birds and stops in his track to observe where the sound is coming from. He's watching the cars pass by. Then a loud truck came through, and he took off running w his tail between his legs.

The first 2 days he was fearful of a lot of things. Now I see him exploring and becoming confident. But I know there is always something that makes these big guys startled. Our E.M mix was afraid of a buffalo statue at a R.V park we were staying at. He was 1 1/2 years old, and you would think that statue was out to get him. I couldn't help but laugh.

That's funny, so much for them to discover. How's things with Logan? so happy for you, what a fluff ball & excited to see the progression, going to be a big polar bear.

A black umbrella last week sitting at a neighbors door, she walked by it slowly and stared it down. Last night we watched the new Benji movie and she was looking for Benji behind the TV, in the patio and all around. She was sure he was around somewhere as she watched him run in the room. lol

He's doing great. Thanks for asking. He has learned sit. And is getting used to the routine of things. Doing great with house and crate training. Overall he is a really good pup. And I am seeing the guardian in him already. Very alert at times and watching. There were some rowdy guys walking down our road, and he was on leash in the front yard. He started watching them, and as they got closer to the house he started a low growl. Then began barking like back off! I told him o.k and he stopped barking, but continued to watch. Very pleased :)
