Separation anxiety magically gone and other updates

First the big exciting news - Diesel’s new separation anxiety disappeared! No more stress panting and coming home to him sitting in a puddle of his own drool! This is a new development over the past week and a half but I am beyond happy about it.

Second Diesel has developed a new fear. You may remember his fear of feathers, or his fear of dandelions... the new fear is of french fries. We can’t have them in his sight. He goes insane, his ruff goes up, he starts snarling and growling and barking and bearing his fangs and lunging at them. It can be a single fry or a whole box of fries. Either way french fries are the new number one enemy in our house now. I did not torture him by videoing his fry reaction though I kind of wish I had. Kahlua just watched him like he was crazy.

Unrelated but here are my pups watching from the top of the stairs

It's always funnier when you have a second member of the same species sitting there looking at them like "What is your problem?"
Poor Diesel.

Yeah it was pretty hilarious. I really don't understand the intense fear of certain tiny objects... I mean feathers was one thing but french fries??? I mean he saw us eating them. You would think that would tell him its food and thus not dangerous. Kahlua eventually gets annoyed with him if he makes too much fuss for no reason. Sometimes when he barks his head off at the neighbors cat out the window Kahlua will start lunging at him like she is going to attack to try to get him to shut up. Of course we don't let her attack but I think at first she's like "you're crazy" and after a couple minutes she just finds him really annoying.

Hey Nik, have his eyes checked. My grand-puppy has one eye (lost one to cancer), but even before this, I swear, he couldn't differentiate small or large items at a distance. And he gets confused...upset by the oddest things. Poor puppy, he's been through so much.

Huddy thinks garbage bags are bad guys. He thinks the lawn statue of a deer at a neighbour's is a demon. He looks with his one beautiful eye at special treats and really has to work it out by smell and positive reinforcement that that boney or stick is really harmless and Tasty!

Maybe Diesel is myopic...? Or maybe he hates French fries because they are filled with trans fats and he's trying to Save His Family's Life: diet watchdog!

Whatever.... our puppies are precious, even if they hate fast food, dandelions and, of course, Strange Men!

lol his eyesite seems pretty good. He can spot a squirrel from a ridiculous distance. And he hated the fries even more when we put it right under his nose (same with the dandelions and feathers). He had this very aggressive I'm going to kill that thing if it makes a wrong move thing going on. Once we hid it in the fast food bag he would calm down but if he caught us take even one out of that bag it was all snarls and bared fangs all over. It did seem to have something to do with smell also because before I reheated some the next day he didn't react so much when they were cold and he saw them. But as soon as they were reheated it was all ruffed up fur and attack mode again. Maybe he is trying to save my diet! lol
