He's so handsome. I see Jiggers tucked under the arm, lol. How old are they both now?
That is Jiggers cave, he hated his crate but found his own enclosed spot.
Jiggers is 8.5 and Kryten is 7.5. Both are starting to look like old guys with their whitening faces. For Kryten the inside of his ears and the undersides of his paws are almost completely white. That said both are doing really well physically although Kryten's arthritis does seem to be getting worse with the heat of summer.

He looks great... I hadn't noticed Jiggers at the bottom (good eye Boxergirl) I had to open the picture up again to have a look. I can't say I'm looking forward to Bailey having the frosted nose (maybe she'll dye her hair like mom.) Just Kidding.

Sorry to hear that his arthritis is worse now. I thought winter would be the time it would kick up (it does for me.) What do you have him on now to help with that? I remember that Hector had some remedies that were helpful. I wish she was online with us again.

He has always been worse in the summer. We think his joints loosen up and that allows for more motion in the joint. He gets Cartrophen injections and they truly seem to work miracles for him. He has been getting them monthly for just over 3 years now with very little else needed for pain relief. July I had to give it to him after 3 weeks and I might need to do this one early too. But given how active he has been it would be more surprising if he wasn't having a bit more trouble. He wants to do more than he used to so he must feel good.

Glad to hear it. It's wonderful when they are up for adventures. I'll have to remember that treatment. Are there any side effects?

Thankfully, it doesn't look like Bailey is suffering yet...moving slower, more gingerly perhaps, but no obvious pain just a disinclination to run as much or play too intensely. And that slow down, has increased both our girths...dropping a few pounds would help her joints and mine!

Denna, also 7.5yrs old now, says "HI" back!
She's had silver "highlights" for years, now... I guess we stress her out too much, LOL.

Since Denna injured her CCL 2.5 years ago, we expect lots of arthritis issues... We might have to look into the Cartrophen shots. She gets turmeric golden paste, which really helps, and green lipped mussel powder. On bad days, she gets some CBD drops in the evening, and/or T-Relief in the morning.

I think adequan (sp) is the equivalent to Cartrophen used in the USA. I thought about trying CBD but he rarely has bad days yet so I haven't gotten past the "it's an idea" stage yet.

I don't remember there being many side effects listed, Kryten doesn't have any negative effects. It isn't really a treatment for pain. Rather it works on the fluid and cartilage in the joints to help preserve them. It either works or it doesn't from what the vets I've talked to have said. For Kryten it must be a noticeable difference quickly, it seems he has made the connection between his shot and feeling better. He comes and sits beside the counter when he sees me get the box out of the fridge, he wants the injection.

Ella is 7 now too. I just recently noticed that her formerly black feet are now totally grey. Her face and whiskers have been grey for a while now. Roy is turning 8 on Sunday and his entire body is greying.

Bailey's mom mentioned Hector's arthritis info. I saved that somewhere. I'll have to see if I can find it.
