I am looking into updating my living furniture. What would you suggest for a living-room couch with a mastiff?I currently have a leather couch. Leading towards another leather couch, but are there other materials for couches that are good to hold up to the drool?? :)

Leather couch here as well. As you mentioned, it‘s definitely easier to clean. I personally wouldn‘t go for a really expensive one when dogs are around, but that‘s just my preference. For some reason, our Mastiff isn‘t a big fan of the couch. However, if he jumps on it from time to time, I would make sure there are no blankets/towels or anything as it can get slippery depending on the type of leather.
Based on your profile picture (your Mastiff reminds me a lot of mine), I‘d definitely go for the XXL version (regardless of the material) :) .

Thanks! My mastiff is always on the couch...so good idea to not invest in an expensive couch!

We have an "old" high end name couch that has been through the wars...Bailey's war of drool, sticks, treats, etc., and I would never, ever, EVER, get anything but a leather couch. The abuse that a Mastiff can put on furniture outweighs any other concern for a covering. Nothing beats leather for a clean up, a polish up and comfort. Stretched out on the couch (always), there is no room for me or my husband, but, if I plead, she will move and curl into a ball along with some grumbling about how unfair life/parents are. So Cute when she grumbles.

Haha!!! What couch? When we got my Boerboel SHE owned the couch. It was my fault. I would lay on it and call her up, and I loved how she would snuggle up and rest her head and then let out a big sigh like "Ohhh...this is so comfortable!

We have all the furniture the dogs go on covered in couch covers with extra throw blankets tucked all over the couch (and chairs they try to claim) as well . Basically we have three layers of cloth between the dog and the actual couch. That was our answer to dogs and furniture. lol
