5 month puppy entropion treatment help?

Hi all,

I have a 22 week old CC and his eyes were inflamed and looked like conjunctivitis. They got better but I still checked with the vet to give me some drops to heal faster. However, they told me my puppy has entropion on both eyes but suggested correction on one eye only via blepharoplasty. I think this is quite invasive for a puppy, as he does not appear to be bothered by his eyelids (ez, squinting, itching etc.). I want to know if anyone has had experience with a PUPPY with this condition (I found posts only for adult dogs) Can they outgrow it? Is the surgery necessary? Any advise from experience will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

yes they can and do outgrow it ..... you need to keep it from turning in , they tack them , put a stitch to hold them out ........

I have been reading about the stitch, but my vet is saying he is too old for that and he needs the other surgery. However, some people say large breeds should wait until 1 year of age. Hence, I am asking for advice and thank you for your reply. I am waiting for a second vet opinion, booked for next week.

at 5 months it can still work , that dogs head may not be growing as fast as it was , but it's still growing pretty fast ...... get it done by a vet who knows what they're doing , a local shar pei breeder should be able to direct you to one ....... it's worth a shot , there are no adverse effects if it don't work , when they start cutting away on the eyelids , an inexperienced vet can do a bad job with adverse effects ........
