hello I need some help: yesterday after our afternoon walk/run i noticed Blu was limpping, I looked at his foot and found a rip looks like a blister that has opened, no blood but red skin exposed. he has just layed around all night and today not wanting to walk on it called vet and they did not think he needs to be seen and should be fine in few days but I feel bad for him and dont want him in any kind of pain ( although he has never cryed or complained except not wanting to walk on it) any one with advice please help

Was it hot when you were out walking? Sounds like a cement burn to me. Ice it don't put ointment on it. It should get better in a few days. If it's to hot for you to walk bare foot walk your dog on the grass.

Pads heal up pretty quick, should be fine. Last year while dove hunting my Shorthair ran 2 or 3 pads bloody chasing downed doves in a dry pond bottom,,,, couple of days off and he was good as new.

No ointment?

Oops. When we burned Denna's poor pads last year (I thought we went early enough in the morning for things to still be cool... NOPE!), I put some neosporin on them, then put her booties on to keep it clean and un-licked. We only did that the first night. The next day they were already looking better. It took a few days to harden over, but they didn't seem to bother her.
