We decided to take the dogs somewhere new this morning for their daily walk. It's a walking trail that runs along a pretty busy road. Rhaegar has been pulling a little more than usual lately, especially when we see other dogs (have been using a martingale with him), so I decided to try Mazey's old easy walk harness (attaches in the front) and see how he did with that. What I didn't expect was that we would be challenged by two GSDs and two cows at the same time, lol. Probably ten minutes into our walk, we passed a small pasture with two little Angus heifers. Rhaegar has been around horses and sheep before, but cows were new to him, so he was a tad worried about them. Then the heifers, being the silly creatures they are, start charging the fence. At the SAME time, two off leash shepherds (no owner in sight of course) come out of nowhere sprinting and barking down their driveway toward us. We were sandwiched between the busy road and the pasture fence, so we really couldn't get any distance away from them. Thankfully Mazey and Atlas are pretty bombproof, so they weren't phased. Rhaegar, on the other hand, was a little overwhelmed. But after one lunge on the harness (which he discovered was NOT comfortable), I was able to easily keep him at my side as we went past all the chaos. Of course on the way back, all four of them were waiting together like a little gang for us to pass back by. They must have been really bored, lol. I didn't have any problems passing with Rhaegar the second time. I think we'll stick with this style harness for a while and see if it continues to work for us.
