6 months, half adult weight?

Ive read and been told that giant breeds are often half their adult weight at 6 months give or take 20%, have you found that to be correct in your experience?

My dog is a BM/CC mix so that might change things a little but at six months he was around 70 lbs. Now (at 8 months) he is just over 100.

It may depend on which giant breed a dog is, as they come from different molosser root stock. Boris (our EM) was 107lbs at 6 months, 132 at 8 mos, and 209 at 10 mos. The last time we weighed him (around 16 mos) he was 245. Unfortunately, we didn't keep weight charts on our GDs or Wolfies, but my impression was that the GDs grew more rapidly during puppy hood and leveled off more quickly than Boris. So the 6 mths estimation may have been more accurate for them.

Also, from reading this forum, I would say there appears to be a lot of individual variation as to growth rates.

I have two EM's, both on the small side. Knox (male) was 75 pounds at 6 months and was 140 pounds at 2 years. Roux (female) was 65 pounds at 6 months and was 125 pounds at 18 months. So, at least in my experience, it's looking to be pretty darn accurate.

Kryten was 86.6 lbs at 6 months and is 170 lbs at 20 months. He is underweight however and still bulking out so he will be over twice his 6 month weight full grown.

I sounds like it may be fairly close! Jadotha, 256 would be twice his 6 month weight plus 20%, Boris seema like he will be bigger than that....but who knows, and kryten would be projected 207 at 6 month weight x 2 plus 20%.... Seema like a fairly accurate way to get a ball park figure perhaps.
