The funny part: I grew up in Boston MA, by my comparison cost of living here is WAY cheaper than where my parents live! Though I'll admit it caries depending on the individual item in question. Gas cost more here than in MA. Actually I suspect thats the cause of ALOT of the higher prices we have......our gas taxes are 2nd highest in the country.

We don't have personal income taxes here but we do pay over 8% sales tax on most everything. They are going to find some way to get ya.

I am new here, and have a 5 month old English Mastiff, Dougie. He is a very, very active boy. We have fed raw, home
cooked and a mix of the two since 1998. Our Dougie loves his food and his weight is great...a little lighter to keep things easy on the joints, but he is not thin. We feed chicken, beef, pork, fish, deer...we include fruits and veggies as well. His diet is specifically designed to be non-inflammatory. We had a female who had terrible skin problems and this particular
diet helped her. I have studied dog nutrition for over 10 years. The latest round of recalls do not surprise me. And I have heard that there a quite a few dog's wh are refusing to eat their food now. The kibble ingredients today dont even come close to resembling the kibble of 20-15 years ago.
I am looking forward to learning what others feed and how you all solve issues.

Great to have you on board. Almost everyone has a different approach, so we all tend to learn from each other. I've only been feeding raw for a little over a year and even more recently put one of my Fila's under the care of an homeopathic vet. So far I'm shocked at how well he is progressing. Look forward to your postings.

Welcome aboard~ I've been raw feeding for about 3 months. Titan has skin issues and I'm hoping the raw feeding will help. He was allergy tested for foods. He tested ok for chicken but I'm finding that maybe he is allergic to chicken because his skin did ok for a few weeks and now it's back to bad. I used to feed him grocery store chicken (enhanced) but started un enhanced chicken about 10 days ago. I'm hoping that is the reason his skin hasn't improved that much due to the enhanced chicken. *fingers & toes crossed*

@musicdeb: If you're having trouble with common protein sources, it's sometimes recommended to try a novel source. When we were nailing down Ebony's allergies (and didn't have the cash for an official test at the U of M an hour away) we ran her through both kibble and raw, but each time used something she wasn't likely to have encountered before. She did really well on fish of all kinds, and the kibble we eventually settled on was venison and brown rice.
Even though the test said Titan should be okay with chicken, you might want to consider (if you haven't tried already) a novel source kibble or raw. Venison, duck, fish, some brands even have kangaroo.

Thanks Marrow! I'm researching what kind of RMB to give him since I'm going to take him off chicken. I didn't think of duck...thanks!
