Apollo (and Arty) enjoying the weather

How old is Apollo now? Also when does this line/breed start "maturing?"

The mud's not to bad actually. Apollo mostly washes himself by dunking himself in the kiddy pool. Anything he doesn't get just brushes off when its dry, really. Arty's a bit more of a pain cause he doesn't like water....so he screams like he's being tortured when I dunk him in the kiddy pool for a wash!

Male TMs aren't considered fully mature till they're about 4.5 or 5 yrs old, though they've generally reached adult height and length by age two. Apollo is 17 months now. He was 28" at the shoulder on his first birthday, and weighed in at 105lbs 3weeks ago.

The pups look gorgeous, I can't wait for Lambeau to lose all of his coat. It's coming out in enormous clumps but its almost done. I liked how Apollo went right at the mud, that seems to be the only thing that gives Lambeau relief in this weather but the cleanup is miserable!

Oh, and Lambeau weighed in at 103 last week (17 months) and the vet called him very fat. I always thought he was pretty lean and he looks lean, but I guess he has to be leaner, still has a small layer of chubbiness over his ribs.

Apollo loves his kiddy pool too. I went out of my way to find a 5ft pool, most are 4ft, and he LOVES it in the summer. Infact he'll usually dunk himself in the pool after being in the mud, so cleanup's not nearly as bad.

Everyone comments on how lean Apollo is, including the vets, so definetly not pudgy here. On the other hand he's put on 10lbs (he was 95lbs mid January) just since we got Arty and I'm reasonably certian its mostly muscle as Arty keeps Apollo running every chance he gets.

You want to be able to tell where his ribs are when you run your hands down his sides, but not actually be able to slot your fingers in between them, so if you can't tell where his ribs are then yah he could probly stand to loose some weight. Keep in mind that all dogs are different too, so the weight thats perfect on Apollo might not be perfect on Lambeau.
