Hi all. What would everyone recommend for my upcoming Coso puppy? I am looking for advice on the best kibble and if I should go with grain free or not? Thanks all.

Look at dogfoodadvisor.com . They have some good unbiased reviews. Whatever you do, avoid anything with by-products, corn, soy, or wheat. For me, any of those ingredients is an automatic DQ.

I don't think there's a best kibble. I also think the decision for grain inclusive or grain free is kind of a personal one now. There's a lot of discussion on grain free contributing to dilated cardiomyopathy. I'm not sold on the correlation, but I'm also open to considering the risk. It's most important to pay attention to the calcium to phosphorus ratio so that slow and steady growth is achieved.

Some info on the grain free issue.

For what it's worth, my pups were always fed Origen Puppy Large (plus 2lbs a day of raw beef or chicken). Great for us. Other good stuff out there too.

I use chicken soup for the soul large breed puppy. It includes glucosamine and chondroitin for joint health and many brands don't. It's also affordable and specially formulated for large breed puppies. The DHA, calcium and phosphorous ratio is good . Contains no wheat corn or soy which some dogs have allergy to.Made in the USA . No stomach or poop issues. My puppy eats it up so I assume she likes it too.
