brazilian mastiff /pit mix

Today Zeus who will be 12 weeks sunday, had to be muzzle today, my sons distant cousin came over today he's 15yr old, and zeus kept barking and growling at him, so i muzzled him, he was trying to get it off, then gave, so the boy reached toward him and zeus jumped backward and sit down by me and stay so after this about ten minutes i took it off of him gave treat and raw hide and when the boy left about fifteen minutes later, but im surprised that he is acting this wsy at an early age, is this normal?

Athena attacked my wife's shoe at 11 weeks old... its very possible... be careful that mix could be dangerous if left to be out of control

Tapd on my skyrocket

When he bites and its usually just me he starts out trying to play and the more i tell him down and no he gets rougher and barks at me, so i was putting him in his cage, but now im muzzling him, I've raised him since he was 33 weeks, i believe he is trying to challenge me, he sits, waits until told to get treat, i've hand feed his dry dog food sometimes.but i try to be consistent with him, i go in and out before him then let hom follow, i make him sit and waiting before inviting him on my bed, and thats usually where he tries me, then he muzzled and off the bed.

Have you researched the Fila?

Sounds to me like the dog thinks your playing. You need to train the dog in a calm way to fully get the comands your using. Either the pup dont know, or dont care. I'd bet dont know

Do a search on this forum for "fila". Lots of info. Sounds like you have two things going on here. Regular puppy roughness and just needs to be taught how to play correctly. Your dog could be starting to show ojeriza, the hatred of strangers that is innate to this breed. If this is the case, you need to learn as much as you can as quickly as possible.

He's a puppy and he's doing puppy things but he does need training. He needs to know what you want him to do, not what you do not want him to do. Research the 2 breeds and increase your knowledge base about the breeds. Your baby could have both breed's traits or just one. Training is key and knowing what is natural instincts are is key. Consistency and lots of patience.
