Hi guys,
Wow, it's almost two years since I started a topic here in this forum, and it was all about my pup who is now a grown lady bullmastiff. XD
Is there any different between the heat cycles of different dog breeds? We've decided to breed our female bullmastiff and she is currently going out with my friend's bm but we want to go through it the natural way. Having said those, we've already done all the needed pre-requisites before commencing with the mating.
So here is the timeline of the heat cycle of Buruma as we have observed:
2.5 weeks ago: Vulva started to swell
Last week (tuesday): Observed heavy bleeding (as observed by the caretaker), she also exhibited humping on her caretaker, side flagging of her tail, and presenting her rear end to everyone who interacts with her.
As advised by the vet, we assumed she'll be very fertile on the 9th day after she bled.
It's her 10th day today but she seems uninterested in giving in for the male and she still bleeds. She occasionally tries to humps the male but the male doesn't want to getting humped. She always smell the male's genitalia.
We're a bit worried that she has already passed her ovulation period. We also don't want to ask for a shooter's service or to do artificial.
!!! Wow, as I was typing this, the male started to mount my girl and clearly, she wants it. But the male stopped for some reason. :-o
