Car shopping...Ugh!

Man o man I really hate shopping...even for cars....I've been nursing along my 1998 Buick hoping she would gift me one more year, but I don't think she'll make it....
Really I should just put her out of her misery! LOL... So for the last 2 months I've been shopping for a cheap car to just do me a couple year....what a headache! Between me being off work longer then expected and now I'm so busy I've barely even had time to stop long enough to visit this forum. Wonder if I can go around shopping on Amazon hahahaha .... yes I love my amazon!

Anyways as I've been shopping on line for a cheap $3000 to $5000 car nightly... as I think I've seen a ok car for the price I would ask my husband...what about this one or that one...he's better at cars then me....he's like no not that one no...no...no to everyone i e thought I found...then I asked him...are you looking too....he says no I'm leaving it up to you....ok that's when I roll my eyeso_O ... now I'm no longer asking him about this one or that one....I ask google....I'm getting so frustrated.... I've now giving myself a time limit....I must have a car by end of this week....I'll have to let you know how it works out....it's not easy to find a car suv big enough for all my family plus 2 grandkids. And hopefully soon another EM. :):D

I feel for you!

I regret that I sold my 18yr old Subaru Outback earlier this year... but... I keep reminding myself how many issues it had (mainly some water leaks in the winter that would ice up the INSIDE of the windshield)... and just try to enjoy the car I bought to replace it... I went with a 2005 Acura MDX for $9k. It's BIG. I have to use a ramp now for Denna to get in & out - she could climb in the back-seat on the Outback, and hop out the back, but the Acura is about 6" taller, and that makes a HUGE difference for her and her bum knee (she tore a CCL 1.5 years ago, and it's still a little weak). The MDX does have a 3rd row of seats that I keep folded out of the way (no need), so maybe enough room for what you need.

The Honda Pilot is the same basic car as the MDX - just without some of the bells and whistles - maybe you could find one for a lot less $$??
Honda and Acura get good longevity / reliability ratings... which was one of the selling points for me (along with the AWD). I am finding a few odds and ends that need fixing, now though... but, so far, less than the $1500 of "stuff" the Subaru needed (that the new owner was told about, too).

Good Luck with your Search!

Thank you DeannasMom I do appreciate the insight. Today I looked at a Buick that's was a so called private sale...we got there and the guy that was doing the sale job said he replaced the back breaks....if you seen him you would know it's been many years since he's crawled under a car....the gentleman was to big and old ...could walk....and there was a dealers plate on it for our test drive.... So this car as the salesman says it's been safety and etested....so we go for a ride...pull over and reviewed this "Safefy Certified" car.... holes in the under body....shouldn't pass a safety....front tires shouldn't have passed a safety.... we returned the car and said thank you for your time, but we'll keep looking.
Tomorrow I go for a test drive on a Hyundai Tucson GL...low mileage fully loaded....decent price too. Fingers crossed....I'm so tired of car shopping.....darn Amazon. Why can't they sell cars! LOL

We just got a new suv 2 weeks ago. It's a Toyota Highlander. I really needed a new car. We go as long as we can before we buy new cars, but this time we went long enough! We were sharing a vehicle for months. The Highlander is really nice. It seats 8, and is spacious w the back seats folded down. I hate used salesmen! So we went with a certified used car place that has a good reputation. So, did you find a suv that you like?
