Cherry Eye

My Mastiff has a cherry eye? Are these expensive visits to the vet or is it true that you can massage them back in over time?

I am so sorry. We tried the massage. We also tried the tacking surgery. In the end we had the cherry eye removed (he had in both eyes) and since he has been healthy and happy. My boy is the one referenced in the link provided above. I am just sorry I didn't have it removed sooner. He is so much happier now.

Best of luck!

Hello!! My boy has cherry eye in one eye!! I'm paying between $400-$500 for his surgery coming up soon. I think it depends on the doctor you go to and what type of procedure they do. I'm getting mine tucked in, it seems NOT a lot of doctors these days remove the gland fully because it's possible they can develop dry eye (rare) I did a lot of research on cherry eye as well. It's a very common issue w/ Mastiffs. I would research a local vet in your area who has done plenty of cherry eye surgery, maybe look on Yelp!!

remove it...too many times the tack will fail and you end up having to do the removal anyways...putting the dog under 2Xs and paying the vet 2Xs sounds good for the vet but not for your dog or you. No, messaging it will not make it stay inside...let me guess your breeder told you to do that, right? my breeder is the only one in the world that claims to have success with this "tricK"...it wont stay in.
