Cherry Eye

I have a 6 month old female Neo Mastiff who recently had her Cherry Eye pop out. I had the surgery done right after. The vet removed the tear duct and stitched it. He prescribed me antibiotics and pain meds. Since her surgery about 2 days ago, her eye is super swollen and it looks cloudy. Whenever she sleeps she gets crusty stuff all over her eye and I use a wet cloth to help her open her eye again. Is she going blind since the surgery? I feel so bad for her because she seems like it is super itchy to her and her eye barely opens now! I don't know if this is just the healing process, or if I have something way worse going on now? Here is a picture of the Cherry Eye that was removed. I'll try to post a picture of her post surgery when I can get a picture of her eye...it's hard because it's so swollen. download.jpg

I just had my neo boy double cherry eye removed on Jan 27th. No stitches at all and they were removed completely. It was hard to find a vet who knew the neapolitan mastiff breed and knew the success rate of cherry eye repair vs complete removal but I did my research, talked to a bunch of different breeders and ended up bringing my boy to one of the best vets around who has been dealing with neos for over 20 years! The day I picked my boy up...it looked like he never had surgery at all. No swelling but there was some eye boogers. He gave me antifungal mess and I put that in his eyes everyday until gone. His eyes look great. Somedays when he wakes up in the morning he has some junk in his eyes but I started using antibiotics only and it seems to be better. Sometimes polysporin works great and I'll try that next if the junk does not clear up entirely. I know there are no tear issues because his eyes are always shiny and when he is in the sun, they water.

Are you certain they were removed or were they tucked in a pocket? If that's the case then there would be more swelling and lots of junk in the eye. If that's the case that it was a pocket repair then I would not be surprised that they pop back out again. Did you have them both done and how old is she?
