My 8 month has developed cherry eye, and vet recommends surgery, but not removing it. Anyone Else Dogue Have this Type Of issue? Thanks for any input!

A number of members have had cherry eye surgery on their pups. Do a search for "cherry eye" and you will see the posts with suggestions and recommendations.

Our (cc) pup had both his cherry eyes removed . Its a very common with mastiff's . Our vet told us there is a small risk of him developing dry eye later on in life but not likely . You can have them tact back in place but then run the risk of having them resurface . I'd wait a week or two and see if your puppy develops it in both eyes before going ahead with any type of surgery . Best of luck

Depending on state you can have it lazered as well. cherry eye will grow and obstruct vision . I would not suggest leaving it . if it were entropian i would say leave it as the dogs head grows the lids will change. but Cherry eye only gets worse as they age. If money is an issue you could crowd fund or look into pet insurance many companies will cover pre existing.

I had a St. Bernard with this that the vet tacked, by the time I drove home it popped back out! Have it removed, not tacked. The tacking might work fine for smaller dogs but not the big guys.
