Corso Ears

What is the exact term for the type of ear cropping that Corsos get? I've heard the term "beauty cut". Is this accurate?

I have heard gladiator cut vs. corso show cut.....never heard beauty cut...i think the gladiator cut is the shorter cut.....the best thing to do is not focus on the name of the cut, but bring pictures of cuts you like to show the vet from all angles....my dog has a perfect crop, in my opinion....you can check out some of his pictures in my previous posts, and see if you like his crop....if so you can use his pictures to show the vet :)

I have heard a lot of different names for them and a lot of different crops for the dogs too. Just look at websites and you will see the wide range of crops that corsi end up. I have heard Gladiator, Teddy Bear, Italian, American, etc.

Sabrina was right though it is less about the name then what you like for a crop. Take some pics (with permission if they are from someone's website) with you to the vet and show them what you like and want for a crop. I think there are a few members on here that have corsi that you can search through and see the crops and if there are any that you like.

Good advice for my future Corso. I have just seen some AWFUL crops out there and would have a break down if he didn't get the perfect cut.

Find out who the breeder uses because chances are a lot of vets haven't seen Corsos (if you like their dog's ears)

Gladiator's crop or fighter's crop. Most Vets will know what you're talking about if you say fighter's crop. Don't let the Vet turn your Corso's ears into a Boxer or Doberman.

Aurora has a shorter crop, which is my personal favorite. I am not a huge fan of the rounder "teddy bear" crop. Be careful of using terms like fighting crop or battle crop if you want shorter, I have seen some bad massacres before, mind you seeing CC with long Boxer/Dobbie/Dane crops are just as bad.
The best bet as said before is to look at pictures and take as many from as many different angles into the vet and show him what you are looking for. Or if possible to find a CC near you who has a crop you really like and ask who the vet that did the ears is.

The majority of vets will only do it up to 16 weeks, some will do it later. It would also have to be a shorter crop ie battle crop as longer may not stand up at this time. You will need to shop around. I know some ppl that import dogs from Europe do the surgery later. Are your pups tails docked as well?

Yeah, I brought in pictures of what I wanted and my poor boy still got butchered! We even went to someone we got a personal referral for. You just never know. I still think the doctor sneezed while she was doing my Icky's ears and then just made them even :)
