DDB Puppy Selection Check-List

Hello,

I am based out of India and will be looking to buy a DDB pup over the next few months. I have identified a few breeders and started conversation with them. Being in India, I will have to do a lot of due diligence on my own and make a comprehensive checklist before I can buy a puppy.

Looking for thoughts on what all should I look for/include in my check-list: questions to breeders, parents history, puppies behavior in litter, physical and behavioral examination, vet examination etc.

Looks like you have the major questions to ask. Check the overall appearance of the pup, i.e. skin condition, hair condition, etc.

Hi i am also from india. when buying DDB look for the lines where it has good longevity. Most breeders are crap in india. My option is look for a genuine breeder and you will know this while asking him lots of questions. DDB are one class of mastiffs which has very short lifespan around 6-7years.
Look for a good line and feed it a good diet, proper vaccinations, exercise etc. When all these factors considered expect the dog to live around 8-10 years old. I have heard DDBs lived around 10 years in abroad. Hope this helps.

For the sake of everyone involved ask for physical proof of any vet exams,x-rays etc.... Don't take their word for anything.

Sorry shaunak. Don't know any good french mastiff breeders. But be very careful while selecting the breeder.There are lot of crappy people doing business unethically. So choose one after several research. For eg. i know a very good gsd breeder in gujarat. His kennel name is lordsk9. very good breeder. Only has working lines and gives guarantee on hips. Once i paid advance to this breeder and the puppy which i chosed got some disease and died in his kennel. Then he paid the advance back to me without any problems. Most of the breeders don't do the same like he did. Do your homework before selecting breeders. His website is LordsK9
