Yep and even better they had mistaken me for someone else and yet I was still the one they were threatening to kill, along with my kid.

We need a mod in there. We cannot have a section that's completely unmodded. There will be limited rules however if the section does come to be.

Why would you need a mod, if anything goes? Sure have someone skim over the top and watch but as far as telling people what they can say would not be needed or having another section would be pointless. The section would be like a strip bar, the only way your going to see naked women is if you open the door and go in LOL!!! Trust me these threads that are getting locked are nothing to what has gone on in the past when we didnt have mods on lists, now there are many hitlers on ALL lists, telling everyone what they can say.

At the end of the day we don't have to justify what we do. We are never going to have an everything goes section on this forum unfortunately.

Forums aren't a Democracy. It's nice when you can find a board that has people that actually give a damn.

Threatening to kill someone over a debate in a forum? Dear God, I have heard it all!! I suppose in that event someone would need to kick them out or something. I can't imagine anyone, anywhere ever saying something in a forum that would make me want to kill them. I see the point there, I suppose. LOL People ARE crazy. If they threaten to kill me, I will send them the address and wait..... :)

How does this sound. This is just an example. How would you feel if someone said "I will find your address, come to your house, and murder your family!!!"... Think that should be modded?

There needs to be limited rules. There needs to be someone to enforce those.

thats were the people that mod mastiff forum should be notified and steps taken to remove the person and contact the authorities with all the persons info as they must register to post to this site. Moderated or not if thats going to happen it will , it will happen more often then not when someone does not get to express themselves when a thread gets locked and the other person gets the last word, THAT pisses people off to the point of revenge.

When we discussed the debate forum, which I personally am a fan of, the rules surrounding it would be limited. As adults here we would hope that everyone can and will play nice or at least have some basic manners. If the powers that be agree to it that is. That said, I do not think attacking family members of the poster, their spouses and children or parenting is needed and that should be monitored. People tend to be braver on forums and can say things, their only intention is to anger/hurt/humiliate, then they would in real life situations. That would be the reason for the mod on the debate section. We (Smart Family, AKBull and myself) have discussed the pro's and cons and are taking it to the admins, the moderator would be someone I am sure you would all be happy with and they would get the joy of putting the kids in time outs if needed.

Sorry I only read maybe 4 posts, but my only comment is. Why does a "Dog Forum" need a debate subforum. If you like to debate go to a forum that welcomes it or is specifically set up for it.

That's all thanks for listening.

Because dogs can be debated about people often have different points of view on things.....if I went to your thread right now and I told you that you were dumb for not thinking that dog is a Boerboel....im sure we could get into a debate...and sometimes honestly you dont want to watch your language and get nerfed when you speak your mind

But that's not debate that is argumentative. A debate is an agreed upon topic by 2 or more individuals. Randoms adverse comments towards each others opinion is just argument. Like this. :scared2:

There are differences between discussion, debate and heated debate. That is why this forum needs a debate section. Truly heated (passionate) debate is not allowed according to the basic rules of the forum which are set up so that people can just enjoy conversation which each other and not be concerned with being offended. There are those of us who are not easily offended and would be more than willing to hash it out (without any real limits) to get to the bottom of it. This would allow those of who are not the "faint of heart" to express ourselves openly and freely without having to be concerned that we may have our thread locked or worse yet, break a rule that would get us booted from a forum that we all enjoy and learn so much from.

Because there was eye gouging, hair pulling, and wedgies going on between some people. It got better towards the end, then someone shot a spit wad and started it back up.

Mike there are numerous topics you can debate about dogs, genetics, lines, breed history, etc in fact there's a few on this forum. While some did go "girls gone wild" they were still a pretty decent debate.

Pretty much what Tiger said.

As someone who's done mod work I think its a bad bad bad idea.

If everyone can remain mature its great. But if everyone can remain mature we don't NEED a "no rules" section for debate. Even heated debate.

The problem is that far to many people cannot remain mature and view the "no rules" as permission to become threatening and abusive.

And no matter how hard you try that sort of thing NEVER stays within the confines of its section. It'll spill out, via PM, via threads in the "rules" sections deliberetly aimed at the opposing side where they believe they can get away with it if they pretend to be polite. Maybe not right away. But it will eventually. If only because of someone with an superiority complex and a massive lack of maturity. But it will happen.
