Dogs in the news Good or Bad

When I have been asked if I had any insight to various incidents that have made the press, my first place to look up information has been this forum. Quite often is the case that the breed has been miss identified or the temperament has been wrongly described. The knowledgeable people her have corrected the media or added insight to the circumstance. I have been able to see the correct information with links that people cite to back up what is more truthful. Personally I feel that full disclosure of information is best. I try and paint a real image of what dog ownership is like and that not everyone is meant to own a dominant breed. I have cited information from this site numerous times.
It saddens me to find out that the information is being censored.

I couldn't agree more. Too many people come on these forums saying they had no idea that there dog would be so protective or that it would not be friendly.

I do understand where the owner's of this forum is coming from by not allowing it but I'm afraid that sweeping the bad under the rug gives people a sense of false security.

I often field questions about Beaux while walking him, and always feel its my duty to explain to people that thou he is cute and appears docile and easy going that there is alot of reponsibility to owning a dog like him. I feel there is more responsibility than your average dog due to his temprement, size and strength. I knew this when I got him and every now and then it really becomes evident. It can't be stated enough that these dogs are not for everyone or every situation. But for the right people and right situations they are irreplacable.

I always loved this news clip video I found on a DDB saving the day.

I understand why more sensationalistic articles/media might be removed. I think cases where because of time or an information boon an article seeking to correct and enrich the narrative of such a story, even if it is a dog bite incident, should be shared and discussed. But I guess there is no way to draw that line effectively between sensationalism and education on a policy level.
