This is our first corso, he's 12 weeks old and weighs about 27 lbs. my wife is goin to be confirmation showing with him, so we cropped his ears. It was done 4 days ago and they're still not quite standing up. Is this normal? He's going to
The vet tomorrow, and he's a very reputable vet. I'm just
Curious on others experience on how long it took
For others ears to stand?

yea its fine. just keep an eye on them. they wont stand up right away.let them heal abit and let the stitches get taken out. after that just post them here and there. also get him a cone. puppies love itching at those stitches lolol. Goodluck!

Do a forum search for ear cropping, there have been a number of posts with a wealth of information. Your pup is handsome!

ours were all taped in racks after cropping and then tapped with cotton posts for weeks to get them to stand.

I don't know a lot of vets that post a corso's ears from the start as the crop is not overly long. If they have issue with standing then they will but you are only 4 days into it so I would give them some time. To help take some cream and gently rub them, this will increase blood flow to the ears and help to harden the cartilage faster.

Good luck with your pup and be sure to post some pictures of him in the conformation ring.

Yeah, don't worry about it. Solo's didn't stand up right away either. And when they finally did they did one at a time...looked all weird right away. I didn't do anything to them except rub his ears a few times a day. I know some say tape or whatever but I never did.

What a handsome fella !!! Enzo's weren't standing on their own at 12 weeks either. He just turned 5 months and they are both properly standing straight up ( have been for some time now). I don't remember exactly when but shortly after they were done. I was so concerned at first as well.

Man, he is growing so fast! He's good looking, but I'm
Curious what the community thinks? Do you think he has a chance at success in the confirmation area? We got him from sworn shield cane corso, which the breeders quickly became good friends.

Great looking boy! It’s my firs dog and I can’t say much from my little experience when comes to dogs (specially Cane Corso) They are growing fast until 7-8 months, then the slowdown going up to 2-3 cm every let’s say 60 days. I am in that stage now with my CC (will be 8 months on 06.03.15). My boy had some cartilages in one of the year and was not standing up in a natural way, so I had to roll the ear (fond enough info on you tube). Keep him slim while growing, yes I know those eyes and face when they want something. You need to avoid giving him to much treats/goodies... I did this mistake (specially my daughter) until my vet told me that is not healthy for a large breed puppy while growing (pressing on them bones etc.).
Some they say that you should be able to easy see the last two ribs, or to easy feel the ribs when you touch him.

All the very best!

He is handsome, his front feet are looking a little flat so try getting him on some different surfaces to tighten those up as much as you can. Generally I would say reduce the protein as it usually accompanies lax pasterns but he seems up well on his legs so would try some sand, pea gravel, things that are going to cause him to work those feet. His back legs need to come back a bit more in the stack so they are 90 degrees to the ground but over all he looks like he is coming along well. Is his tail docked short or is it mid wag towards his mama? I can only tell you what I see (feet are always something I notice as I have one with lax feet, so it is something I pick out in pictures), how he will do in the ring will depend entirely on the judge that day. Does he stand a chance, as he continues to mature you will be able to tell more but so far he looks good.

Beautiful dog, I love his ears!
I could never have my pups ears cropped, I'm too much of a wussy and a softie to put them through it.
I love the look and know it is only temporary pain but I just can't get myself to put them through it.
Don't get me wrong I'm not a tree hugging bunny lover, I have no problem gunning down rabbits and deer, but those are not my baby dogs lol.
