I'm coming to the end of an unexpected hospital stay (long story - been here 5 days), so I haven't been in the house with Murphy at all and I've missed him, but thanks to modern technology, I can still see him!

Putting him in a sit through the phone:

And pics of him not very happy he hasn't seen me for a week. He's usually like my shadow:

Thanks everyone!

Doctors are making their way round soon but I should be able to go today. I'm the picture of health (pardon the pun).

He's been misbehaving too whilst I haven't been there

I'm sorry to hear that you are in the hospital and hopefully going home today. Such a great dog daddy, FaceTiming with your boy!

Hi everyone,

Got home about an hour ago, and he won't leave my side! He seems to know I'm still a bit unwell though and he's being extra careful around me making sure he doesn't knock me over etc., I think he knows if he does then it's back to hospital for me!

Basically giving away the reason I was hospitalised by asking this, but does anyone have any experience with any mastiff breed and seizures? I had a Grand Mal and he stayed with me throughout, he barked at me but stayed with me until the paramedic had to get to me and he had to be put in the other room. (This was my first one and I had another when I got to the hospital)

Proud of him either way! I'll post some pics of him when he wakes up, this is the first time he's settled for days!

What a sweet loving dog and an adorably sad face. With him by your side the healing should be quick (or at least more pleasant).

Thank you for sharing the wonderful pics (although this makes miss my pup more while at work today). I hope you feel better soon. :)

I believe that some dogs have been trained to be service dogs in that situation. I think they can sense when a seizure is coming. I'm not sure what the training entails but it may be something long term to look into. Hope you get them under control.

Best to you and your dogue!

Thanks everyone for the kind messages,

But does anyone know how long it takes a dog to settle into a new house after a move? We had our first night in our new house last night and Murph was quite stressed out he's fine now but I was just wondering how long it would take for him to settle again?

As for me though I'm feeling much better even though I'm not allowed out with Murph on my own for a while in case I have another one which is a shame

We have began going to a different park where he is much more exposed to dogs, people and other animals which is really helping with his socialisation. He met his first Rotts, Huskies and Geese today! He wasn't too sure about the Geese though.

Murph has experienced a few changes, you in the hospital and moving, which has caused him to be stressed. Give him time and lots of patience.

The move and you in the hospital, equal just giving him time.

Most every bonded dogs can sense a change in there owner, and will key to it.
You should look into CGC for him and from there service work for you.
It will also mean some more intense training, but grand mals are something that are helped with meds, in the control and prevention area, though they can still happen at anytime and any place.
Without better knowledge of your testing can't say if they will be a increasing issue or a once in a blue moon issue.

I would highly advise getting the training for Murphy, as he has shown already to key on it with you and act accordingly.

This is the Mrs as Jay wanted me to post my input.

Having a look at CGC right now, and currently, he'd get the Bronze easy. He'd also be very good at the silver, too, except he hates getting in the car.

We're awaiting the results of an EEG scan too on my brain, and I'm on 6 tablets a day to control the seizures (3 in the morning, 3 at night - epilim). Murphy is still constantly checking on me though, you can always see him staring at me through the corner of his eye when we're in the same room together. He's like my own little bodyguard.
