We've bought some of these, Deb, and Bailey loves them, but they are off the menu now. Thanks, I don't know what I'd do if I lost Bailey. I feel so sorry for the over 500 who lost their beloved pets. Keep informing people, we all need another set of eyes to avoid these pitfalls. Thank you.
Thank you for the info.
YW! I agree, the more it's out there, the more pups will be saved.
People should make their own treats...cheaper and much safer IMO....
Agreed. I don't bc most of the time I'm hardly ever home & have a hard enough time just making myself food. So if I buy treats, I don't buy anything made outside of the US.
I bought some bison jerky from Costco a few weeks ago... all USA made (double checked!). But I'm not sure they agree with her.
They have glycerine in them, too... I think I might return them.
...and... who decided dog's like the taste of 'smoke'?
I was watching this on the news this morning. Sad to think you can just give your dog a snack and a day later it's dead.
I make my own jerky for them, if I run out I buy the human grade big bag of jerky from the market.
Lol, yeah that's my problem too Haha!, but since being laid off I've been in a cooking mood....so now I try to make time, even if I get lazy lol.
So many items now say 'distributed by' rather than 'made in' so I always wonder about their true source.
Yep. That's why I always check for "made in the us" if you look at some of the packaging it may say made in China, distributed in the us. I stay away from those too
@DMikeM...we make our own venison jerky. How do you season it for the dogs? Or do you season it at all?
I don't put any salts or pepper on the meat but it is soaked in the same Soy, molasses, fruity, marinades that I use for my own jerky. The sodium and citrus are the preservatives.
Mike I might have to visit you  make you own jerky
Here is some of my jerky recipes.
Wow, those recipes look awesome!! Thanks!!
Welcome. Jerky making is just about doing it how you want it. I just made a batch that I soaked in a molasses and cajun spice blend then painted it with Sriracha hot sauce before I dried it. It is like fire but so yummy.
Just saw this Mike! A HUGE THANK YOU!
Welcome, remember Jerky is a very lax recipe add or remove flavors as your taste requires.
How do you make the jerky? I'd love to make some for my dogs. I'm too scared to buy the treats.
