Yah, and notice how her tail is going the whole time? They ENJOY it, lol. I don't do bitework with mine, frankly it would be a very bad idea. She NEVER forgets and she holds a grudge. She's put in her protection time IRL, though. Disarmed a big man when she was 7 months old, and she's done some sterling defending when we've been out for walks late at night, not to mention gone through the back bedroom window after a prowler. (There's a reason I have *decorative* ironwork on my windows -- on the inside, lol) It's really magnificent to see them, and a well socialized, intelligent Fila knows just how far they have to take it to get the job done. She's never bitten anyone -- that I know of (not sure if she got the prowler or not :D ).

about her tail...every time she ever goes after someone her tail goes nuts. i dont think it is a happy thing at all, she hates when people come anywhere near her so it may just be a stress thing.

I've always thought it's one of those Fila things -- they actually ENJOY the confrontations (I know mine have) . . . plus it's deceitful, lol. That back end LIES! How many people have you heard say, "oh, I just look and see if a dog's tail is wagging; if it is, it's okay?"

I've seen them literally try to lure people they dislike into situations they can't get out of. You've got to figure that anything that's bred to hunt jaguar has got to have a strong sneaky streak ;)

She's out of Defender. Judy and Gary took a lot of flack from a lot of people, but they turned out some really spectacular dogs out of Gamble. Some of their others weren't the best, but that's true of any kennel, and a lot of the crap they took originated from places like Shoo-Its. I've got her papers stashed and really need to scan them into the computer -- do Camping and Eshabeta lines in her background.

Kharma's been nothing but spectacular, and it's a kick for me to look at the old photos of the historic Filas because you could age one of her photos and she'd be indiscernible from them :) I'll have to be honest and say I'm not thrilled with the way the breed is going or with CAFIB -- or the show world in general.

lol, yea I know what you mean. Filas have gained a bit of popularity and there are BYBs everywhere now producing crap from the crap that they bought. CAFIB is pretty much just suggestions on how to breed and the idea to keep the Fila pure it is up to the actual person/ breeder to actually follow the rules put forth by CAFIB. until recently there were no CAFIB EXPOs in the U.S but now we have at least 1 per year and as people start noticing what CAFIB can do for the breed there will be more shows I am sure. More good news that I heard recently is that CBKC is going to change its standard (yet again) but this time to be similar to the CAFIB standard. They never should have changed the standard to match the dogs that were being bred instead of enforcing the standard and denying wins to the dogs that did not conform.
