Flea/Tick/Heartworm

What do you guys use for flea/tick and heartworm preventatives? I'd like to use a pill form since every dog I've had to apply the liquid ended up making a mess of it in the house. I know there's a couple methods out there that take care of all three (Revolution, Trifexis), but the reviews are mixed. Anyone here with firsthand knowledge?

I used PetArmor on Mac and it has seemed to work for me, as far as heartworm goes I've been looking at several options, even considering using Ivomec. I've seen that a couple of people have used it on here successfully plus many more on the internet as far as google searching goes. I previously used Revolution and it worked well for me. Just considering alternatives.

Revolution is liquid, not pill, and it only does American Dog ticks, so depending on your area you may need additional tick coverage such as a Preventic collar. I've used Revolution, neither dog had a bad reaction and it worked quite well. However I needed additional tick coverage this year as the collar wasn't enough with the insane tick population this year and so ended up switching to something else.

Also keep in mind that unlike most heartworm meds canine Revolution does not do hookworms or roundworms

I use petarmor for ticks and fleas (works fine so far) and heartgard for heartworms etc.

The lot behind my house is heavily wooded. I don't anticipate us ever going into it, but doesn't mean the ticks and whatnot won't decide to come over and visit us.

PetArmor/Heartgard combo here for me too. The flea/tick liquids can make a mess, so I usually put it on when we can spend lots of time outside rolling, running, etc. to kind of work the stuff around then kennel at night so if anything transfers it's on the dog blankets and not the couch. You can also use a soft-bristle brush to help move the stuff around so it can absorb faster and hopefully not drip too badly.

Thanks, Marrow! I think I'll try the liquid again and use your advice. Do you buy yours online or through your vet?

When I used revolution I always used drsfostersmith.com. Best prices and always reliable

I have always used Trifexis, it is wonderful against intestinal worms/heartworms and fleas, however it does nothing for ticks. I live in the south so this is a problem for me, if you live where there isn't a tick problem, I would suggest this product.

I'm looking for more natural preventatives (idealy for both my boogers, but especially for Roux who suffers from seriously irritated skin/possible allergies/possible systemic yeast infection), and came across this product: http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/Anibio-Tic-Clip/900000.aspx

Has anyone tried this product, or a similar one? Curious to know about people's firsthand experiences and whether it's worth a try or not. I also was wondering whether it would be as effective for a 160 pound Mastiff as it is for a 50 pound Border Collie... Thoughts?
