Looking into switching foods. I'm still looking for a quality food that won't break the bank. Currently feeding Purina One for large breeds. Just wondering what flavor your dogs like and if the food has the glucosamine in it. I have noticed there isn't a large breed food in Taste of the Wild. I'm so confused.

I have never fed Purina, just Diamond Brand. We feed our bullmastiff the large breed puppy currently. She loves it, it has the right balance of protein and fat, and it isn't too expensive. We purchase ours at TSC (Tractor Supply Company) for $32.00 for the 40lb bag. TSC is the cheapest I have found it so far. They have the puppy food in lamb and rice too I think.. Multiple flavors for adults. I don't think I have ever seen Taste of the Wild Foods where we live.

** Sorry wasn't paying attention to the fact you wanted opinions from Taste of the Wild feeders until after I posted this..

Taste Of the Wild doesn't come in large breed. It is an all-life stages food that you can feed from puppyhood on. It comes in 4 flavors at the moment High Prairie, Pacific Stream and Sierra Mountain, and Wetlands.

We now feed Acana because instead of TOTW as it is easier to get and one of our girls just didn't seem to do well on this food. I believe there is glucosamine contained in this food and it is usually a fair price. Kirkland also has a grain-free (not sure as to the quality as it isn't available here for us to try yet) and they have a Signature food that for the price is quite good quality.

I fed TOTW as well until 10 months, it is not easy to get in Canada.
I will not feed a large breed food as they tend to have too high a protein count. Personally I believe is a sales pitch.
TOTW is an all stages food, grain free our dogs did great on it and would continue if it was easily available.

I just switched my corso pup from diamond naturals to TOTW, simply due to them being made by the same company and i wanted to see how she adjusted to grain free which she did just fine...however i will be switching her to a different brand due to the high calcium and phospherous in TOTW, toooo high for a growing pup IMO. My English Mastiff eats Fromm 4 stars (frommfamily.com) and IMO it is a higher quality food then diamond foods (TOTW). It is made in one single plant and is a small family owned company.
Anyway my pup seems to enjoy the TOTW. Also as far as glucosamine, you are best off supplementing that into a large dogs diet. While many dog foods include things like glucosamine, omega 3's etc..they are hardly enough to make a substantial differance. Glucosamine and fish oils are all available at your local heath food stores. I supplement both of these into my dogs diets.

EDIT: Just noticed in your sig sais you have an English Mastiff...stay away from TOTW unless your dog is older then 2..And this comes from experience, feeding a high calcium phospherous ratio food to your pup could cause skeletal problems. My Drake developed bone spurts in his shoulder from feeding too much large breed food containing high amounts of calcium....

Thanks for the info, I will not be switching to TOTW.
