Hector, how's this for a leash

Hector asked me to make him a custom leash with a traffic loop combo. Yesterday I threw this together to see how it would function. I will take it for a test walk later today.
The handle can be opened up to allow the walker to hang it around the waist or over the shoulder too.
I added a reflective knot near the clasp just to draw attention to it at night.

I saw the leash on facebook. Let me know how the test goes today. I'm looking for a strong leash to walk Titan. His current leashes do ok but I want something stronger so I feel more secure that he will not get away from me, if that should ever occur again.

What's the cost? How long are the leashes? What kind of material? Colors?

Thanks Mike!

How did Titan get away?...

The material is static climbing/safety rope I think the rating is in the thousands of pounds, supposed to be UV resistant and mildew proof. This is actually the most dense rope I have used yet. I have to heat my knife twice to cut through it. It is lashed together with 550# paracord and finished with a 2000#+ Carabiner. For rope color I have this black and a bright safety orange, then i have a softer slightly thicker red rope used in horse and farm work, it is very soft in the hands. I have about a dozen paracord colors but if you want something special let me know and I will see if I have it or can get it.
If you look here you can see many samples and color combos.

A standard leash is $20.00 this combo deal should be 30 but I anm going to sell to Forum/Facebook friends for $25.00. I still need to make Hectors collar if still interested. I am looking for the right rings for it as it will be wider than anything else I have made. Oh and this is about 7 feet long.

Mike - I still want the collar. His head is 24.5 in and neck is 23 in and the neck base is 27in. Thanks

Collar should be 25.5/26 for a slip collar then.
Took Jade out to test your leash. I will be making more of these at least for me if nothing else. I found myself holding the loop in my left almost the whole time and the handle in my right. I could let the loop go and allow her to roam out but it was easy to pull back and have that loop back in hand in just a second. She also heeled better than she ever has before with this with no pulling in a loose hold.

Mike, in the last pic, Jade's like not this again.
I guess you could also attach the top of the traffic handle to the leash if you didn't like the hang, but it looks like one sturdy leash! So jealous of the nice weather over there too!

When I use my 12" traffic loop in combination with the regular leash Apollo also handles much better. Something about having the extra handle without having to pull on the leash. Hubby even commented on it. I don't know why it makes a difference bu it does.

Mike, I want to order one. I'll check out the colors on facebook and let you know what color I want. Titan wears a flat collar, if you need to know that. I'll post here once I look at the colors.

He almost got away. Really, really close to getting away a few months ago to get the maintenance guy. It was the first time I was truly scared of Titan hurting someone.

Oh my, well it's a good thing he didn't get away.

Collar makes no difference, but I need to ask is that safe enough? I see Titan is a DDB so a collar on the nech should not allow his head to slip through so that part should be good but is it a single pin in hole type or something else?

This is Titan's collar which has worked very well so far. Majestic Pet 14'' - 20'' Adjustable Collar in Multiple Colors Fits Most 40-120 lbs Dogs: Dogs : Walmart.com He also wears a harness so I have double leashes which has worked very well so far.

Shakira, one of our members makes her collars with that buckle and it was tested against a big gnarly pit-bull or bandog and it held fine. I will make a leash with double whippings (lashing) if needed. But so far all of mine have held up to Jade at full press and some pretty heavy lunges.

It is very tight. Considered a friction joint. I have not been able to pull one out yet. Also when I cut the rope end I melt it to prevent unraveling and that leaves a shoulder on the end that is larger than the lashing. This is the same lashing sailors have been using for decades.

I post a close up soon.
