Hello all! My name is Andrea and I am new to this forum. I am also a new (what we believe to be) mastiff mix owner. Mia is approximately 5 months old and is a reverse brindle. We aren't exactly sure of her breed, she was a rescue pup. Her litter was dumped in a box by a trash can. I am constantly asked if she is a mastiff and the vet believes she is a mastiff mix too. Her teacher at puppy school tells me she has the mastiff attitude (very slow moving and somewhat lazy ;) ) She is only 55 pounds so I am guessing she mixed with something smaller. She is, however, almost the height of my full grown boxers. She is a very sweet, smart, and (as I mentioned) somewhat lazy girl. I'm hoping I can gain some insight into the breed, as I said they are new to me, and maybe get the opinion of others as to what she may be!

I hope this pictures attach properly, apparently I've lost my touch with computers lol. The picture on the bed is most recent and the picture of her sitting on deck is from a few months back. Please feel free to weigh in on her breed, I'm really curious!

Hi and welcome! I have no input on breed but she is a cutie! Love the head tilt in the first pic. :)

Thanks! We think she's pretty special. I found several pictures online of English mastiffs that could be her twin. Unfortunately, she doesn't take the best pictures because her face is mostly black. Also, the ones I uploaded are low resolution. I just learned the other day her reoccurring hiccups is a large breed puppy thing! Looking forward to learning more about the breed.

THAT is one cute pup, she looks like she could have cane corso in her, she's beautiful,

Cute girl. She does remind me of Kryten (EM) as a puppy. Also he was 60 lbs at 5 months so if she is part English Mastiff she could reach full size. The black faces make it almost impossible to get a good head shot. He was about 5 months in this picture.

Thank you all! After looking at Cane Corso pics I could see that being a possibility too. Kryten is adorable! I see the resemblance there as well.
I wish I could figure out how to upload a better picture on here.

You can always get doggy DNA. You can buy it online by wisdom panel. That way you will know for sure.

Yeah, I have been considering a DNA test. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews regarding their accuracy but I will still probably break down and buy just out of sheer curiousity!

I bought it for my dogs. I have a boxer pit mix. It was on point there. The other dog I thought was Cane Corso great Dane. Test told me was was neo/ rottweiler I didn't believe it called them up and they put me in touch with a veterinarian specialist she talked me through everything and I sent pictures they said the test was accurate. Since I did two dogs I do think it's accurate

Congratulations. Mia is adorable.
Mastiff-"ish" for sure. Maybe has CC, maybe EM in her blood as others mentioned

Thank you! As she gets older I notice her eyes and lips getting droopier (is that a word?). I'm going to invest in a DNA kit and see what it has to say. Also, if I can ever figure out how to include a better quality pic in here, I'll do it!

Beautiful! Your pup looks a ton like my friend's neo/Rottie cross. Sorry I don't have pic of him handy...

Hey, it's been a while since I've been on here but I did decide to go through and do a DNA test on Mia. The results were as expected: 62.5% mastiff. Also said 25% American bulldog and 12.5% boxer. She grows every time I look at her! She's up to 85 lbs or so now and is around 7-8 months.

She has had some issues with drinking an excessive amount of water so she will be going to vet tomorrow to get that checked out. Other than that she's great and I love her to pieces, she is such a sweetie!

Oh cool! Do you know what sort of a mastiff? Did it specify in the dna test? You have some of the same breeds mixed in with her as my Kahlua! :)
