Well, joined this group, sent a message, then realised I had somehow sent it to myself! How is that for an intro?! I am usually much smarter!

Anyways, will start again by saying Hello to this forum, I am from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. I started an all-breed rescue here just over 8 years ago, started volunteering for a PitBull rescue based out of Calgary about 2 years ago, they disbanded, and so the volunteers from the group and I started our own PBull group in February. That is me.

I joined this group in hopes that someone can help me find a Fila rescue group somewhat close to me here in Southern Alberta. I got a call this evening about a 9 month old female Fila that has been left at a vet clinic not far from here. Those are the only details I have at this moment, but have asked that the staff member contact me tomorrow or Monday to get more information about this dog.

I have boarded a Fila and have dealt with many Bully breeds over the years, but don't feel confident in finding this girl a home, not in my area. Hard to find good homes for any breed of dog, nevermind the bully breeds. I am hoping that a Fila group might have a family on a waiting list that is close to me, or wouldn't mind helping me by courtesy listing this pup on their site. Even though I don't have this dog in my possession, I thought I would get the ball rolling so she finds a home soon.

Thanks for your time.

You might look fairly far afield at Fila rescues. Most are pretty good about arranging transport. I've been involved in transporting one from Virginia down to Texas to her new home. She was totally unsocialized and had, at just about a year old, lived most of her young life in the garage. It was . . . interesting, lol. I kept her with me for a week before we got the transport arranged from Tennessee to Texas, and by the third day, she was climbing up in my lap, trying to drink out of my wine glass. There's something incredibly rewarding about getting these incredibly complex creatures to their REAL homes. Anyone who could desert a Fila . . . well, doesn't deserve one.

Any kind of info you can get as to her temperament, socialization, etc., will help a great deal.
