How much food per day for puppies ??

Just curious how much do you feed your puppy? Rosie is 14 weeks and vet says 1 cup twice a day. She is supposed to increase her to 1 1/4 at her visit this week. Is that the normal amount. She seems to still be so hungry when she is done ...

It depends greatly on what food you are feeding. A lower quality food is going to be a higher amount than a high quality food. Also I wouldn't go by age but rather by body condition. If she is starting to look really skinny you need to increase it. If you can't see any of her ribs when she's standing, or feel them easily if her coat color/pattern makes seeing them difficult she is getting too much.
I started by giving them what the recommended amount on the bag was and then adjusting from there. One dog needs less than recommended for his size and activity level while the other requires more to keep them both at a healthy weight.

Go by what it says on the bag of food and adjust. You definitely don't want to over feed. Allow for slow growth. Also, don't use the dog's "hunger" to determine how much u feed. That's a great way to get an overweight dog. Solo would eat as much as I gave him. Keep them lean.

Thanks, Feeding her Fromm Gold Adult. I Can see her ribs but not where she looks emaciated. So I guess she is getting the proper amount :D

Yup, body condition is the way to judge. Even puppies of different breeds have different metabolisms, so another CC the same age/weight as your puppy could either a bit less or a bit more to maintain the same body condition.

My 7 month old Great Dane eats 10 cups a day. Most other Danes that age I hear of eat around 6-8. Titan is nice and lean with his last 3 ribs showing. It really is an individual thing that needs to be maintained by owners depending on their particular puppy's needs.
