"indestructible" dog toys?

"indestructible" dog toys?

Any suggestions on "indestructible" dog toys?

Our Neo, Earle, seems to be able to mutilate all but the biggest Kong Wubba.

Currently he's most amused by an old soccer ball -and the stuffed bear he sleeps with (which is the only toy he hasn't shredded).

Thanx.

Jolly balls have been a big favorite in this house. Our shepherd loves the one with the rope thru it, although we take the rope out and there's also the totally hard ones.

I have a not quite never ending supply of really heavy duty cardboard tubes (they're what's inside rolls of poster size photo paper), the cardboard is a good inch thick and highly compressed, the tubes weigh almost 3 pounds. It takes my two WEEKS to kill one. Not really indistructable, and I end up with bits of cardboard all over the house, but they last longer than alot of toys!

Definitely Kongs and Jolly Balls that's what we have found at our house to be indestructable...The other toy we have that has lasted is a baby toy by Lamaze... it's a musical octopus that has lasted us 1 full year and is just now starting to break down...

While it isn't indestructible by any means, 2L pop bottles are extremely cheap and I know many dogs love playing with them.

Oh yes I almost forgot the 5 gallon jugs off the water coolers provided they are the recyclable ones and not the refundable ones...These are Diesel's favourite toys to squish, crunch and toss around and they cost me nothing and provide no waste as they just head off to recycling when he is done...

Jolly Balls and the Egge toy are the only ones that seem to last here. We also have that giant Triceratops toy from Tuffy's. That was the only stuffed animal type toy that lasted more than 4 months.

Earle loves the 2L soda bottles, but they don't usually last more than a day. Current favorite is a soccer ball, which he'll carry around or play soccer with.

We have several hula hoops here made from 3/4" plastic pipe, and he proudly carries those everywhere. He's figured out how to get them through the door.

Will definitely find some cardboard tubing, seems pretty harmless and entertaining. Also stronger plastic jugs.

Thanx everyone.

If you have a photo processor, or place that prints custom photos and posters and the like (Kinko's maybe?), ask them what they do with the rolls from the paper when they're done. Most likely they just get tossed in the recycle bin or cardboard compactor, so I imagine they'd be willing to let you have a couple.

Definitely Jolly Balls. Made for horses, so they're mastiff-sized, plus they're non-toxic, recyclable (#4, i think), and pretty resistant to being chewed. Oscar also loves those plastic planters, the large black ones like you might get a small tree in. They get tossed in the recycle bin when they're shredded but until then they roll and have edges to grip. For other store-bought stuff we really like the Kong Wubbas. Oscar's got a seam ripped on the head/neck area of one of his but that's as far as he's gotten. They're pretty good at standing up to abuse, especially for a fuzzy toy.

OK so what size Jolly Ball? Ya'll got me interested in this toy, so I want to get one, but don't know what is a good size. How big is that green one I see in the mastiff's mouth on one of your avatar pics?

If it's the same size we got, it's the 10-inch one. Honestly, that was the only size in stock when we went shopping, and it was either green or purple. Seems to be about the right size though ... Oscar's got some tooth marks in it of course, but they don't deflate.

One of Norm's favorites is the puppy puck...it's a hockey puck with a tennis ball like material in the center. He loves to play fetch with it or he'll just carry it around the house. We've had it for a couple months and it still looks like new.

These are a few of Gus's favorites right now.
L to R Goughnut, Rope toy I tied, Jolly Ball

Gus and I unclogged a friends bathtub. while we were walking home I gave Gus the black rubber plunger. He loved it and I remember seeing the goughnut at a local pet supply that looked similar material. After reading about the company on line and they have a replacement guarantee, I had to run over to the local shop and buy one and he loves it.

Trkybrd The Puppy puck sounds interesting.

I have to second this. Mason has had the Pterodactyl for over a month and it's still going strong. Guts completely intact.

It does hurt LIKE CRAZY, though, when slammed repeatedly against your naked legs.

Re: "indestructible" dog toys?

I just got back from PetSmart, and they had the 8" Jolly ball marked clearance. It was marked down from $25 to $9. So I grabbed one of the ones with the handle and one with the rope. He already had the one with the rope and he loves it, but for the price I figured I'd get a backup. Might be worth checking out at your local store and see if they have the deal.

PVC Pipe! Thing lasts forever. That and what Ravendarat said about the 2 Liter coke bottles. We'll spend money on other toys she rips to shreds, but what costs the least seems to work the best. At least for us anyways! :)
