I've never seen a senior Dogue..

Is it weird that I've never seen a senior DDB? Like.. Do they get that majestic grey beard/moustache combo or what? I was thinking of our old BM girl and how she was a little grey as she got older and passed away, and realised I've never seen a senior Dogue.

Any pics?

They have short lifespans to begin with. 6-8 years on average so hardly senior age wise compared to other breeds!

My friend has a douge, she is going to be 10 this summer.
She is a beauty! There is not much grey on her, she is a bit tierd but takes a stroll in the forest every day and loves food. She is a quite hungry dog (as you can see) :p

Most senior DDB's that I've seen do not have gray on their muzzle. :) 10 years for a DDB is awesome! Generally, DDB's do not make it past 7 years of age due to life threatening disease. So sad...

Yeah, my friend has just lost a Shar Pei at 16 months due to a health issue he didn't know about. Heartbreaking.

Let's hope all the dogs live until they're ten... At least!

I've had more seniors than these 4 , they are all ddb , the red masked pup in the last pic is sitting in front of her great grandmother , the one above is her great grand uncle , the one above that is her aunt , the top one her mother , the pup lived only to 8-9yrs , her mother and aunt 11yrs , her grandmother and grand uncle lived to 12 .... her other uncle is alive today at 13 ....... the great grandmopther and great grand uncle were beefy t pups bred to a pepignon bitch , the old dogues definitely lived longer , even with the worse hips ......I bred to the pups sire when he was 10yrs ... I believe beefy t threw some long lived dogues , those pepignon bitches did also ........a lot of health issues have been linebred/inbred on in the search of a specific type ........ I've had some 10 plus red masked also , they don't get as gray ...........

Whoa, didn't realise they were black masks. The brightness on my phone was down and thought they were BMs, my mistake. Can see it a bit clearer now I'm on a desktop. Bit embarrassed now :scared2:

Lovely Dogues, marke.

I am looking forward to easing Mateo into a gentle (and healthy) old age...

Hoping he makes it to 9, 10....beyond. :)
