Okay, but what is the relationship between these neighbors? Did the dog have a history of barking and the neighbor has had enough because the lab owners fail to be considerate? I know lots of ppl don't give a crap about other ppl when it comes to their own barking dogs. Was the lab on the neighbor's property?

The dog had never even met this neighbor before it was a mistake on the owners part and the dog wandered a half mile in the wrong direction

Oh okay. That's pretty sad. I hear more and more of ppl shooting neighbor's dogs here all the time now, even in city limits.

Poor doggy.....

I've heared several stories like that in the past few years, and it makes me sick, and angry, and sick again.

Dogs shot, poisoned, run over, dragged behind vehicles......

What's wrong with people?

That is still no excuse. I have had neighbors that constantly played their music too loudly keeping me up all hours, or had very loud children that woke me up all hours, or back in my apartment days would wake me up with their sexual activities. Would that excuse my going over and killing whoever was making the noise at the time? Being inconsiderate is no justification for murder. And I consider the killing of a dog no different then killing a human of any age. If it is self defense that is one thing. If it isn't self-defense then it is inexcusable.

No excuse and no one is saying that it is an excuse, but these things happen all the time, it's not even surprising. Heck, people's dogs get poisoned for absolutely no reason. Here, someone shot a dog through the throat with an arrow (unsure dog made it through surgery or not, but was alive with an arrow through the back of his neck) because a dog went after turkeys on his land, but actually shot him when he scared the ducks off when the person was hunting. Shooting people is different than shooting an animal and comparing killing a dog with killing a person is really a bit over the top and not my way of thinking.

All we should worry about is how we can protect our own dogs from these incidences the best we can. We have no control over what other people do.
