Large dog martingale collar

I Know we've discussed is a bunch of times. Could I find the links when I wanted them?? Course not....

Anyway, large/giant dog sized martingale style collar suggestions please. I specifically want one with a quick release buckle. Google nets me a bunch of links, but that doesn't tell me much about them.

Edit: I definetly don't want chain, or partial chain.

I have been toying with the idea of making a martingale with a buckle. That way you don't have to worry about the head size just the neck size. But I only make them with a curb chain in it and have only seen a few that use only fabric or leather. I have some real nice metal qiuck release buckles I have been trying to find a way to use. Now I know what I can do with at least one. prototype tomorrow I think.

I can find all sorts of sites for custom stuff, and google nets me no reviews *sigh* I suppose I could take a chance, but since Apollo just prooved that he really DOES know how to slip his collar (and gave us both the heart attack of our lives), and that includes his Lupine martingale if we don't snug it down far enough after slipping it over his head, we need a collar with a buckle asap. I need to fix the plug and cord on my sewing machine before I can play around with it and try making one of my own (a certian evil little puppy decided the cord tasted good and it's now 10 inches shorter than it was and missing the plug). In the mean time we're going to be using the prong collar for everything, which I hate to do since we'd finally got his leash manners down pretty good and were trying to work on non-prong leash work....On the other hand I now know for a fact that the psychotic GSDs on the property kitty corner are terrified of him.....

If you can come up with a prototype I'd be delighted to take a look!

did you see Jade's slip on martingale? I made it so it is hard to slip over her head, once on she cannot back out of it.
Here is one I sold to my breeder. She loves it. it was $25.00. This is a King Cobra knot. A cobra knot is 15.00 and is still very strong. I think the metal will break before the knot would.

And here is a solid rope martingale.

I love your notted work.

The problem is he figured out how to back up just enough to loosen the pull, flip around and back up, and somehow by the time he backs up enough to tighten it its halfway over his head. And no, it wasn't a loose fit to slide over his head either. When we caught him and I put it back on him it was a snug fit. All the fluff makes a slippery surface I think. So I need one I can't slip over his head. Now we CAN tighten the Lupine one that far, but its an extra step when we're putting it on, AND we thought we had got it that snug last night and clearly we didn't....

Well I know I can make one with a buckle but for a dog that strong will you feel confident the quick release will hold him? It will have to be snug even before the chain is pulled which is how I have Jade's right now. If I have time today I will put one together for her with a buckle and test is against her pull. I can tell her to pull me and she will really lean into it. She is only 120lb though, how big is your dog?
Here is what I have. http://www.cdwplus.com/singleMSRB.html
and the chains.

Apollo weighed 113 mid December, we're expecting an adult weight of 135-145. Not sure I'd trust a plastic buckle, but a metal I think would hold. I suppose a standard buckle would be the other option....I'd do that myself if it came down to it, I can get webbing easily enough, and hardware for it, I'm just not sure how that would work with a martingale style connector.

that one would be 30.00 ill take care of shipping. You want desert tan probably and I was just thinking to get a spool of it. I'll see what golds I can get.
These are the only colors I have right now.

K, I just measured right at the top of Apollo's neck as 24" if that makes a difference (I posted above and then realized the measurement probly makes a difference, that wasn't hugely snug around his neck but I couldn't work it off over his head either). Desert tan would work fine unless you want an excuse to add gold to the collection in which case I won't stop you!

If I don't get any gold do you want a black or other color border? DT and black might look nice.

Yah, the desert tan and black is fine, thats actually kinda what I was picturing, but gold would be cool lol

Ah, yah, ok, either the desert tan and black or the gold and black, which ever color you'd rather order.

Damn, browsing that site makes me wish my hands weren't shot. But although I can sew, and on a good day even pin patterns, without to much pain, I can't manage fancy braiding any more. Arthritis sucks....

I have big beat up hands but doing this seems to help make them nimble again. I think it took about 45 minutes to put that colar together, maybe more maybe less. I was watching tv whil I did it and thinking of more ways to do it.
